4Runner vs. Grand CherokeeCaptainOats25 08-14-2005, 10:06 PM What is better....the late 90's (97, 98, 99) Jeep Grand Cherokee or the Toyota 4Runner. Things like power, towing, handling, fuel economy...any opinions would be appreciated...thanks! VAD0R 08-14-2005, 11:45 PM The only thing a Cherokee is really at a loss with is fuel economy, luxury and maybe handling. This applies to comparing every trim to each other. Yes Grand Cherokees are even reliable. CaptainOats25 08-15-2005, 12:06 AM Well I currently have a 94 4Runner, and am getting about 13-14 miles per gallon...is the Grand Cherokee worse then that? drdisque 08-15-2005, 12:11 AM 4.0L Grand Cherokee is usually a little better than that, V8 Grand Cherokee is usually similar porscheguy9999 08-15-2005, 12:28 AM Well, my 95 CG has the 4.0 I6, and I get about 15-18 MPG. 18 being on a verrry good day. But for an SUV, I aint complaining. Go for the Jeep. Plus the 4.0 is built freakin solid. My friend knew a guy whos 94' 4.0 lasted for some 300k miles before calling it quits. But for towing, the Jeep is the obvious choice. And off road, the Jeep is again the undisputed champ in this comparo. Or most others for that matter. Handleing, well thats obvious its not going to be awesome. So the 4Runner is fine if you dont want to tow anything or go off road. But the GC is still civilized enough for everyday use. Go with the Jeep. Polygon 08-15-2005, 01:10 AM My dad's 99 Grand with the 4.7L V8 got around 18-19 MPG. In my opinion the Grand Cherokee with the 4.7L V8 has the 4 Runner beat hands down. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
