Edelbrock Turbo Kit vs Greddy Turbo Kit ?Gipergon 08-14-2005, 01:31 PM Hello guys i would like to know which kit is better to buy. Edelbrock kit cost $3,500 and Greddy cost $2,000 This is going into 96 ex. dose Edelbrock kit worth extra $1,500 ? im planning to push 200 -220whp CivicSpoon 08-14-2005, 01:37 PM Yes, because it comes with an intake manifold and an intercooler. You have to pay extra to get the intercooler kit from Greddy. Also comes with a boost gauge and BOV. If you don't need to worry about emissions testing, I'd buy a DRAG kit over both. Gipergon 08-14-2005, 01:58 PM Is Drag Kit Beter then Edelbrock ? CivicSpoon 08-14-2005, 02:10 PM In my opinion yes. It comes with a much bigger turbo, though from what I've heard (and seen) the manifolds are crappy. But looking at your profile, I'd assume you do have emissions testing. So you'll have to make sure that whatever turbo kit you get, is carb exempt. honda_racing101 08-14-2005, 02:18 PM Yeah the drag manifold is crap. The wastegate sits right over one cylinder rather than all four. superbluecivicsi 08-14-2005, 02:30 PM Gipergon 08-15-2005, 01:48 AM ok guys so what the best one to buy ? superbluecivicsi 08-15-2005, 02:28 AM read the link, search, research, and make your own conclusions. Schister66 08-15-2005, 11:22 AM damn, you beat me to it....go to that link and you'll learn all you need to know Ace$nyper 08-15-2005, 07:56 PM Greddy is good if.... well I can't even joke about Greddy being good. If buying a premade kit I highly reccomend Full Race. Schister66 08-15-2005, 08:40 PM Greddy and Edelbrock are decent kits...but for the money, you can do a lot better. If you just read into that site that superbluecivicsi gave you, you should be able to figure it out, and possibly build one of your own kits projectgsr 08-17-2005, 04:59 PM Wow where on earth are you getting a Greddy kit for $2000? Is that brand new or used. Everywhere I look it's at least $2500. How can I save myself $500? fasthatchb18c1 08-17-2005, 11:50 PM Wow where on earth are you getting a Greddy kit for $2000? Is that brand new or used. Everywhere I look it's at least $2500. How can I save myself $500? You can save your self about 1500 if you read the link posted for Gipergon Ace$nyper 08-19-2005, 02:12 PM You can save your self about 1500 if you read the link posted for Gipergon or switching to gecio wait what? eckoman_pdx 08-19-2005, 02:23 PM Greddy makes an awful "kit." I wouldn't even call it a kit. I doesn't come with everything you need. No BOV, No intercooler. They tune the boost for some ricdiculously low amont out of the box so you can "bolt it on" without these and be "ok." Still, even AFTER you buy these...output is nothing compared to a good turbo set-up. Between the 2, the Ebelbrock kit is lightyears better. It comes with a manifold, Tial BOV, autometer boost gauge and spearco intercooler, and it comes with a piggyback control unit, which is a litle better than a FMUY most kits use. It also uses, according to the edelbrock site, a Garret T28 ball-bearing turbo, which is going to spool faster than a non-ball bearing turbo (like greddy and many other kits). http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/sport_compact/index.html Now they also have an upgrade to the 2 different sized trrim GT28R turbos, which is a pretty darn good Garrett Ball-bearing turbo. That'd be the one I used if I was going to buy their "kit." I've looked over the compressor maps for that turbo, and I've always liked that one http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/sport_compact/index.html Now, if you are willing, as was said, save you money and screw a bolt on kit. Put toghter your own kit, and use a hondata with boost control for the management. This would be better than either of those 2, but out of the 2 you gave, Edelbrock is better than greddy. Greddy kit's suck, and that's all you need to know. It's just a well know name, they are not good kits. superbluecivicsi 08-19-2005, 04:58 PM or switching to gecio wait what? thats my line :P scottsee 08-20-2005, 11:19 PM kits, you dont need no stinking kit. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
