Honda Accord ECM codes

I have a 1988 Honda Accord LXi model that I need to see the diagnostic codes. I have been informed that the ECM is under the passenger front seat. It is supposed to have a blinking led (on the front of the ECM) to indicate the fault codes. I cannot find this blinking led anywhere on anything under the front seat!
The check engine light came on and should have set a fault code.
The reason I want to check for any codes is that the engine surges from 45 mph down to 25 mph when removing my foot from the gas pedal.
From 25 mph to idle--it is just fine. I suspect a problem in the EGR circuit and the code would help identify the problem!
Two month ago I installed a new main relay assembly for a problem involving the fuel pump system. The fuel pump problem was solved by installing this main relay.
This current problem only started 1 week ago.
Any help will be appreciated.

I also have an 88 Accord and u may be looking under the wrong seat. I think the L.E.D. light should be under the driver side seat, looking from the back there is a small door on the emc box under the seat, click it open u should find the light there.
