Has anyone tried painting the stock running boards? If so, what was the process?

I actually just did that yesterday, it was fairly easy. All you have to do is take them off the truck, remove the steps and the end caps if you can(mine were nearly impossible to get off). I taped the ends since I could not get them off. Other than that clean them, sand them, and then paint them. The paint I used did not need primer, so depending on what you use you may not either. One tip i can offer you is to try to make something that you can hang them from so taht you can spray them from all angles rather than holding them or laying them on something. And also do very thin coats, but do like 2 or 3 coats. The first one I did i had some overspray marks. The only thing you will want to do then is possibly paint the roof rack to match. I planned on doing both so that they matched. Once I put the steps back on, the roof rack looked a little off because it was silver and the steps were a graphite color.

Yeah, I want to, but dont have the extra money for sliders yet, so i figured I would make the steps and the roof rack match atleast until i did so.

I said the same thing until I took them off. It looked so much better with them off then with them on. :grinno:

Mike from Carlisle(Krazymnd) is selling his, so I am going to buy his. He posted it over on XOC. I liked the way mine looked without them, while I was painting them. But I definetly need something there as where I work is a huge parking lot thats part of a movie theater so there are lots of careless people.

I was gonna get his skid row rear bumper. I just don't have the money right now for it. I have to order my steering system real soon so I can get Brent my stock parts back. If he dropped the price down to $500 I'd buy it. But I doubt that he would do that.
