R34 Nismo Z-TunecircuitR 08-12-2005, 05:31 AM Hi everybody! As soon as this kit arrived into my local hobby store, I brought it before it even touched the shelf. Of course I had to have the PE kit as it looks great and this will be my first kit with PE parts, so there are some new things for me to learn. my first challenge was to remove the runners off the nose cone, what a mission! Thank god I have got jewlers files as this was quite tricky to remove. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT1.jpg Of course this car is not going to be completely box stock, that's just not me. So......there goes the rear wing in the parts box. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT2.jpg My plans for this machine is gloss black with the wheels pure white. So I primed the rims white http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT3.jpg Then I gave them massive brakes a go, adding the wicked PE disks and floating rings. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT6.jpg Does anyone have any suggestions on how to black wash PE parts? do they need metal priming? After I gave the body a prime, I noticed the spoiler holes I filled had sunk, dammit! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT7.jpg I've been building a lot of Fujimi kits lately so it was nice to have Tamiya window masks. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT8.jpg This is also my first kit with my airbrush, I'm loving it so much. I seriously reccomend getting one. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT9.jpg Still gotta blackwash the tranny http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT10.jpg Well that's where I am up to. I will try and keep you posted. I look forward to your comments and criticism TireGaint 08-12-2005, 05:45 AM Hey bro, which PE part do u purchase, Tamiya, or AcStion? Does it have the Nismo stencil for the intercooler? That's what sold me. Crisjr: Yeah I know there were only 20 made, but if I was loaded to the eyeballs with money, I would do this to it. Thanks for looking fullas 73superduty 08-12-2005, 08:40 PM Looking good! The pe kit was what sold me the kit. Not sure when I will build mine, but what a nice kit. Look forward to your progress. Been sick with an ear infection so what else could I do at home. (I a'int watchin' Dr Phil!) So the first thing i did was detail the dash, including the PE pedals. Pity you won't see them when the car is put together. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT11.jpg Then I added the carpet and decals. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT13.jpg Then I gave the wheels their final coat. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT12.jpg My first attempt at Blue washing the exaust. Where did you get the carpet from? does it come with the kit? sportracer02 08-16-2005, 01:35 AM Hi, what material for the seat belts did you use?? Hiroboy 08-16-2005, 02:14 AM Sweet :) circuitR 08-16-2005, 05:24 AM 91p10nizmo: The carpet comes with the PE kit. sportracer02: I use scale motorsport PE harness kits, they come with seatbelt material. Thanks for looking, hopefully I will have the red base coat on this weekend. Wheelin75r 08-16-2005, 05:35 AM Keep it commin'!! circuitR 08-16-2005, 06:48 PM I couldn't help myself, I had to see how those rims looked. I can't wait to get this painted, but this will be my first car that I will be painting with an airbrush, so I need to go to a car painter to get some laquer paint. Sorry about the first 2 pics as it was late in the afternoon. I also did the intercooler mesh with the nismo stencil. God damn it came out better than I thought! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT20.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT21.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT22.jpg Comments welcome :smokin: g00eY 08-16-2005, 07:42 PM rims and intercooler look great! Feint Motion 08-16-2005, 08:15 PM Looks Great so far. I think you should Beef up that FMIC. blueboost 08-16-2005, 08:52 PM sweeet thewhiteguyone 08-16-2005, 11:23 PM nice progress...i have some questions. how are you airbrushing the exhaust to make it look that way...i've been trying to figure it out for a little bit now. also, how did you black wash the PE parts? circuitR 08-17-2005, 12:27 AM thewhiteguyone: Firstly I painted it chrome silver and then using a fine nozzle I freehand the joins and dump pipes. To get the feathered look I held the pipe upright and sprayed from side to side. As for the PE parts, I did'nt weather the brake disks. But the pedals I just used semi gloss black and wiped the excess off with a cotton bud. I hope that helps you. circuitR 08-27-2005, 12:53 AM Heya guys, finally got a chance to paint the car. Now this is the first car I have painted with my airbrush. I used PPG Deep Black. I'm a little dissapointed as there is quite a bit of orange peel, but I did'nt wanna get paint runs. Also it has showed up the putty marks that were not visible on the primer where I filled the spoiler holes. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT23.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT24.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT25.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT26.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT27.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT28.jpg Now for a question. Should I sand it with 2000 grit to get rid of the orange peel? Or do I just compound the crap out of it? Cheers Blair Feint Motion 08-27-2005, 01:01 AM Wet sand with 1500 grit then work your way up to 2000 grit. Nice color. :smokin: circuitR 08-27-2005, 02:33 AM That's what I wanted to hear. That's what I'll be doing tomorrow. Then hopefully I will get a clearcoat on tomorrow. ImolaEK 08-27-2005, 10:05 PM That's what I wanted to hear. That's what I'll be doing tomorrow. Then hopefully I will get a clearcoat on tomorrow. Yea, i'd just wet sand it down with 2000 grit. Hopefully once the clear is on it will be more even:) Seems like the paint was too hot for the putty :( Happens all the time. This mishap is a perfect reason why this baby needs a spoiler:) MidMazar 08-27-2005, 10:35 PM Looking very nice, the peel isn't that bad nothing 2000 can get out. I wanna see this one done, the intercooler came out super clean. circuitR 08-28-2005, 04:56 AM Yea, i'd just wet sand it down with 2000 grit. Hopefully once the clear is on it will be more even:) Seems like the paint was too hot for the putty :( Happens all the time. This mishap is a perfect reason why this baby needs a spoiler:) Being a newbie to mixing my own colours, I'm guessing too hot means to much thinners? Thanks for looking circuitR 09-05-2005, 04:48 AM Well I have basically got no fingers left as I have been sanding and polishing for hours. First of all, I sanded the car back with 1000 grit to get rid of the bad orange peel, then I used 2000 grit, gave it another coat of black. Rubbed it down again with 2K grit and then polished it with Mr Hobby super fine compound, quite pleased with the result. It just needs a clear coat now. If I still have an arm. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT29.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT30.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT31.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT32.jpg Thanks for looking. sjelic 09-05-2005, 05:31 AM hehehe, try doing that on real car :D I lost my hands few times. But difference is obvious, good job ;) bvia 09-05-2005, 09:54 PM Good job!! But next time, try using a color other than black....which is the hardest color to shoot and get smooth!!! Esp. since it was your first time with an airbrush...;-)> Bill Dean23 09-05-2005, 10:03 PM Im not a big fan of asian cars...more of a muscle car guy, but wow great lookin car. Progress looks good. and the paint looks nice as well. Keep up the good work. circuitR 11-14-2005, 03:57 AM I'm sorry that this thread has'nt been updated for a while. I've been away on buisness. I finally got some time to re-sand and compound this car. Although it looks like I took the clear off the roof and boot. So I might have to do some touch up's with some clear tomorrow. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT33.jpg Sorry about the pic, it's not the best. I think my batteries are going flat. I've been a busy boy the last 3 days (and most nights) Here's some sneak shots of the interior and scratch built exaust. I will post completed photo's tomorrow. (I will take the pics tomorrow morning. best light) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT34.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT35.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT36.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/CircuitR/Nismo%20Z-Tune/ZT37.jpg Until tomorrow :smokin: tonioseven 01-11-2006, 06:53 AM Very Nice!:sunglasse gionc 01-11-2006, 07:16 AM Great job, I like the black livery with white rims: nice seats vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
