1999 Chevy Silverado Z71 Off Road (Lifted)CamaroSSBoy346 08-12-2005, 12:35 AM Wow, I havent built a model in awhile, huh? Oh well, heres my comeback... its based off the Revell 1999 Silverado CK 2WD Extended cab... but its going to be built into a modified Z71 equipped truck. I remember seeing someone else build a Z71 Silverado. Does anyone know where I can get some Z71 Decals? Also, what color do you think this would look good in? I'm thinking a dark metallic green? Heres some mockup pics.. http://www.rankmyride.com/data//4/1/1423//.large/dsc02570.jpg http://www.rankmyride.com/data//4/1/1423//.large/dsc02571.jpg http://www.rankmyride.com/data//4/1/1423//.large/dsc02572.jpg spitfire143 08-12-2005, 12:49 AM looks good so far! Dark green would be nice, but a gunmetal IMO would look great ;) tonioseven 08-12-2005, 10:36 AM Dark Metallic green with a 2-tone tan interior!:sunglasse ToyTundra 08-12-2005, 04:31 PM :iagree: I was just debating whether or not to pick up that very kit. Jeep_Rubicon 08-12-2005, 04:35 PM Looks great, nice lift and wheels. eph2 08-12-2005, 06:06 PM Is gonna be a cool car!!! blubaja 08-12-2005, 06:33 PM Green? Ugh...I hate dark metallic green. But you will make it look nice I am sure. Is it going to be 4WD at least? I remember there was a West Coast Customs lifted RWD tahoe or something. Oh, and dubs...WTF people!!!! Learn how to make something not look like a POS! UGH!!! Um... What did you use for the suspension parts? Is this getting a rollbar and the necessary off-roading equipment? Good luck the with rest of this:-D Jaymes 08-12-2005, 10:24 PM I think navy blue would look best with this car looking forward to more CamaroSSBoy346 08-12-2005, 11:40 PM Yes. it is a 4x4. Not a 2wd. (Z71's only came in 4x4 anyways) For suspension parts? Well, I custom built the IFS Crade using block some tubing. Heres the skeleton of the cradle: http://www.rankmyride.com/data//4/1/1423//.large/dsc02573.jpg After the cradle was assembled, I used the kit supplied upper and lower control arms, and spindles, and used mostly recycled/kitbashed parts. To extend the spindles, I put the rest of the shock tube from the PL GTO kit. I used a front differential housing from a Toyota Hilux, and used the PL GTO Half shafts. I used the stock tie-rod, just to be sure the suspension is the right width. Then i also used coil springs from the Revell Civic (Both front and rear, I trimmed them, and put two together to make one long one) http://www.rankmyride.com/data//4/1/1423//.large/dsc02575.jpg As for the rear end, I used the stock GM 12 Bolt, and rearched the leaf springs. I also added lift blocks, and made a new rear leaf hangers/shackles. CamaroSSBoy346 08-13-2005, 12:08 AM Here are a few better pics.. Now I'll finally have a lifted truck from each of the big 3. ("Big Red" F-250, and "The Tow Truck" Dodge VTS) You can see them, if you search.. Heres the rear end: http://www.rankmyride.com/data//4/1/1423//.large/dsc02578.jpg Front: http://www.rankmyride.com/data//4/1/1423//.large/dsc02577.jpg Front bottom: http://www.rankmyride.com/data//4/1/1423//.large/dsc02576.jpg white97ex 08-13-2005, 12:13 AM nice work on that cradle SupaMan89T 08-13-2005, 06:27 AM great work so far! CamaroSSBoy346 08-13-2005, 02:05 PM Heres some updates. I finally got the tires, wheels, and brakes mounted. I realized the rear end sits a little low, compared to the front, so I'll have to level that out... http://www.rankmyride.com/data//4/1/1423//.large/dsc02579.jpg http://www.rankmyride.com/data//4/1/1423//.large/dsc02581.jpg http://www.rankmyride.com/data//4/1/1423//.large/dsc02582.jpg 351Cougar 08-15-2005, 01:06 AM leave it as is SupaMan89T 08-15-2005, 07:33 AM looks awesome! Well I was thinking, maybe a dark red with a silver bottom half, or a Dark silver with a black metallic bottom half... Enzoenvy1 03-29-2007, 05:49 PM Lol, sucks that all we really have for lifting trucks are the crappy Intercos from the cheesy Hi-Lux kits. We need some Iroks, and 52" Michelins also. That would be tits! This is a great job on the truck. I could never have one in real life with IFS though. Glad I am straight on my rig. You should swap a straight Rockwell, or d60 in the front of one of these things. Then you could flex out twice as high. Sorry, didn't notice old thread. LeonR 03-29-2007, 07:34 PM Sounds like a awsome 4x4 build, but I can't see any pic's starting from the interior on page two. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
