K+N intake on 05 TacoINDIGOPEARL 08-11-2005, 11:05 AM Has anyone installed the air intake kit on their 05 Taco? I see they now offer one and I am just curious how much louder the engine is. I have the V6 manual..... thanks Steve upstate NY N6UBO 08-12-2005, 01:30 PM Hi Steve! I used a K&N Air Filter in my '02 2.7 Tacoma and saw NO difference in either gas consumption or performance. BTW, where in Upstate NY are you? I grew up around Syracuse. Bernie corbinwaterski 08-13-2005, 05:32 AM Don't waste your money on K & N. Go with AFE(trd) or Amsoil. INDIGOPEARL 08-13-2005, 10:39 AM Thanks for the input, just the same I'll pass on an intake made by amsoil, last I heard they were into oil. I have used k+n intakes on 2 heavily modified MR2 turbos (222 whp/344whp) and my WRX. I have seen their dyno with the tacoma v6. Does AIM or Amsoil have dynos from this? Anyone thinks they can slap a tube and a filter together and call it an intake. Who has done more of these than k+n...... Hey Bernie I am an hour north of Syracuse........ So I have only 1 choice. ctesla 08-16-2005, 07:08 PM Corbin I believe k+n is the only company with an intake out currently for the 05. So I have only 1 choice. steve, nothing against K&N, as I have them on many of my vehicles, but I would look at your 4-liter air intake, and see if it has changed from the 2.7 and 3.4 plastic tube much. their are two companies which make billet aluminum swivel connections, do for under $100. and three "joint-kits" you can have a custom intake, and could put whoever's air cleaner on the end you wanted. AutoZone carries the less expensive kits, and the other maker, I believe, is either A1Cardone, or AEM? any way, had I done my research, I'd have went this way, rather than two C-notes on an Injen stainless (it's still ok), which was more AND retains a little more heat than I would like. hope this helps, chris nrt racing vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
