Towing campers

I have 98 1500 ext 4x4. I tow a 29' camper(4200lbs) with this truck I ge a fair bit of engine pining when towing. Any one have any suggestions on how to cure this ?

Usually 4 gear or o/d.

Usually 4 gear or o/d. some times when I kick down to 3 she still has a slite ping

Do not tow anything in O/D with that truck. It plays hell with the tranny. As far as the ping try giving it a tune-up.

I had the same problem with my Dodge, I went to a higher grade gas, about a 92 octane, this cured the ping, but soon after the plenum pan went out, if you start to loose oil, not burning, not leaking, your plenum pan gasket blows out and the oil blows through, Dodge is well aware of this problem but will do nothing for us Dodge owners.
