Hesitation while accelerating

Alright, I gotta 99 GASE 2.4 with 129,354 miles, and have another damn problem with this POS. Say I stop at a red light, I give it some gas when the light turns green, the car hesitates, or sometimes I get no responce for 3-4 seconds. Would anyone know how to fix this problem before I go nuts?!

May need a basic tune up (plugs, wires, filters, ect.). But my first guess would actually be your Throttle Position Sensor. It should run you around 25 $.

I got a tune up about 8 months ago. They replaced plugs, wires, had all the filters changed, and had the coil packs replaced. I really didn't think about the Throttle Position Sensor. Im gonna go get one now. But I got a question about it. Where is it located? Im gonna assume that it located near the throttle?

Could this also be causing my rough idle? I guess I should explain... When sitting idle, it stays around 700-800 RPM, then all of a sudden, it i'll drop to 200-300 RPM for 1-2 seconds. If replacing the TPS won't fix it, what will?

If it's not your TPS, then it could be your MAF, or your IAC motor (but that would only be noticable during idle). So if replacing your TPS doesn't fix it, trying buying a new MAF sensor unit. Your TPS plugs into the side of your throttle body. It is a common problem for TPS's to get water inside the housing and cause a faulty throttle position reading.

i would check your plugs anyways. Might as well start with the cheapest fix first before you spend money if you dont need to

Well, I checked the plugs, they were still in great shape. So I just replaced the TPS, I think we might have found the problem, because its not hesitsting. But since the car has a lot of miles, im gonna replace the MAF, and the coil pack housing. Thanks! Now im actually encouraged to keep my car, rather than trade it in!

Glad to see you're trying to save another CAR. So many people these days just Junk them out or trade them off. It's easier to just get a newer model, I would agree, but chances are, things are going to fail on any car.
Also I would have had the TPS, and the MAF, coils tested. This might save you some $$$. Why replace it if it's not defective/bad. Good Luck!
