280ZX fuel pump not onCoupons420 08-09-2005, 12:00 AM i have a 280zx 80' and when i turn the key you usually hear the fuel pump make a noise and create pressure.. but my dont do that and it wont start and when it does start if u leave for a day it turns over and starts for about 2 seconds maybe, then dies, it has to be another 24 hr before i can start it again i guess fuel seeps in slowly, no gauges work when the car is on for a few brief seconds, besides the battery one. is the fuel pump out or is there some other main electrical thing i dont know about? and is there anyway i can test to see if the fuel pump works? any ANY help would be aprecciated im stumped :( DeleriousZ 08-09-2005, 12:33 AM is the battery in the car good? sounds like you're not getting power to anything... do any interior lights (dome lights and such) come on at all? if not you could have a bunk battery or a loose connection somewhere... Coupons420 08-10-2005, 11:08 AM lol ya it works it brand new like less than a month old, everything works it's just the fuel pump doesnt come on, im thinking there is some relay/fuse somwhere but i dont know what could cause the dash to stop working and fuel pump not turn on! Check it. -Wes Coupons420 08-11-2005, 03:37 AM alright i fixed the gauges just a fuse i was missing : / but there are 3 relay fuses ... as the book states... but i looked at the 2 and 3 one and there are 2 but they are conected with wires on the top sodered? im gona try using differnt relay from the other ones hope it works! ohh i pulled the fuel pump and dont try hooking up a electrical plug to it kinda doesnt work to well .. but i did hook it up to the battery and it sucks sucks mighty well! k3smostwanted 08-11-2005, 04:42 AM alright i fixed the gauges just a fuse i was missing : / but there are 3 relay fuses ... as the book states... but i looked at the 2 and 3 one and there are 2 but they are conected with wires on the top sodered? im gona try using differnt relay from the other ones hope it works! ohh i pulled the fuel pump and dont try hooking up a electrical plug to it kinda doesnt work to well .. but i did hook it up to the battery and it sucks sucks mighty well! does the wire look like a job done by someone other than nissan??? or could it possibly be that you are looking in the "fuse link" box? usually, soldered cross-over wires in cars means somewhere there was a short and the owner decided that instead of fixing the short i will just complete the circuit with an extra wire. then that miniscule short turns into a hunt for a wire blown into 2. anyways, good luck...i hate wiring problems. *goes back to looking at the wiring diagrams of the Z32, trying to figure out where to wire in the Reverse Sensor and Clutch Depress Switch* Coupons420 08-11-2005, 09:20 AM actually its a fuse thats the size of two fuses but tis actually one and it has its own pattern so no swap and it looks origional but it looked like it had a cover at one point.. : / im gona go to a junk yard and get a bunch of fuses and see what happens but worst case senerio, the fuse under the dash is the one blown :*0 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
