why do the running lights burn out?89mx6gt 08-08-2005, 11:16 PM what is it with the 99-03 silverado/sierra's that makes the daytime running lights burn out? i swear almost 50% of them that i've ever seen have had at least one daytime running light burnt out. is it just bad bulbs, or is it some other problem? korndogg 08-08-2005, 11:20 PM cause theyre on all the damn time. lol i dunno sportin83 08-08-2005, 11:35 PM yeah its cause they are on any time the truck is in gear unless the headlights are on. and they are just cheap bulbs. they need to design led bulbs for them and they would last longer. BlenderWizard 08-09-2005, 12:10 AM Or just do away with the damn things... sportin83 08-09-2005, 12:13 AM has any one seen any aftermarket bulbs for these that are better? Nigel215 08-09-2005, 07:47 AM yea, I have LED's they have lasted me about 8 months soo far, and look alot better. Maybe i can get some pics later tonight. sportin83 08-09-2005, 09:58 AM what bulb numer are these lights? where did you get them at? what brand are they? thanks alot Nigel215 08-09-2005, 12:01 PM they are 3157's i got them off e-bay, just do a search for 3157 Led's yankeeintruder 08-09-2005, 04:22 PM The current to the DRLs is about 14 volts...... that's why the 12 volt 3157 burns out so fast. Use the Sylvania 4114K.... they're part #15199562....rated for 14 volts. I got mine off eBay, don't know if the dealers carry them or not but the 8-digit part number might be a GM part number. Probably would be more expensive though. I paid $4.99/pr. plus $3.00 shipping. The LEDs will last awhile also....... and most likely a whiter/brighter light.
