View Full Version : performance parts that give H.P. ? performance parts that give H.P. ? RICHARD312 08-08-2005, 08:30 PM I heard of air spacer, and K&N Kit.. Has anyone done Electric Fans? Will they give me other problems? Thanks  sandman96 08-08-2005, 09:24 PM I have a 94 with the 318. I put dual flowmaster super 40's and the K&N air intake kit on it. Noticed a small increase in power. Stock that motor is supposed to make 200 HP, so I'm probably at 220 or 230 tops. The only other thing I can think of is one of those computer programers. I would do it to mine but there only for 96 and up vechicles. Don't know about the electric fan, I don't know of anybody that has done that. imtheoneandonlyD 08-31-2005, 05:17 AM do not get the throttle body spacer. They dont work on fuel injected cars. ImMoRTaL 09-02-2005, 04:27 AM Will a throttle body spacer work on my '86 Ram with 318, and is it a good idea? imtheoneandonlyD 09-02-2005, 11:12 AM if its fuel injected no. If its got a carb then yes. If you do try the elec. fans post the info here. I was looking into doing that as well. Rtallday79 12-13-2005, 03:00 PM I am getting the electric fan kit, its easy to install. Ill post pics as i do it, ive done it to a friends dodge diesel. Adds UP TO 30 hp and the kit is less than 500. Also the mopar performance computer and k&n air intake setup is good too. -Rich sandman96 12-13-2005, 11:48 PM I am getting the electric fan kit, its easy to install. I haven't been able to find any for dodge's. imtheoneandonlyD 12-14-2005, 02:21 AM I have a 94 with the 318. I put dual flowmaster super 40's and the K&N air intake kit on it. MAYBE 220 under perfect driving conditions. Rtallday79 12-14-2005, 08:30 AM Summitt racing sells it. Its flex-a-lite and i think the number is 290. Im not 100 percent sure of the number, but i believe thats it. Its a universal setup, two 15 inch fans. It comes with a bunch of brackets. The hardest thing to do during that installation is relocate the overflow bottle and washer jar. Other than that, the instructions included are pretty helpfull. -Rich sandman96 12-14-2005, 12:34 PM 220hp? i doubt it. MAYBE 220 under perfect driving conditions. You can doubt it all you want but you have no idea what else I've done to my truck. BleedDodge 12-14-2005, 01:30 PM The 318 makes 230 horse from the factory. I dunno what you guys are talking about. sandman96 12-14-2005, 02:28 PM The 318 makes 230 horse from the factory. I dunno what you guys are talking about. I just looked it up and I was indeed wrong. The 318 makes 220 horse and the 360 makes 230. So my truck is probably in the 240 range. BleedDodge 12-14-2005, 07:21 PM I've got my Dodge Ram brochure right here. 318cid - 230hp@4400 360cid - 245hp@4000 And it says the SS/T's have a 250hp 360cid. imtheoneandonlyD 12-14-2005, 08:39 PM I have a 94 with the 318. So unless you've added mods since then i will doubt and say you dont have 20 HP from an intake and exhaust. sandman96 12-14-2005, 09:07 PM Ok you listed 2 mods. Unless you have more your not pushing 20 hp over stock. So unless you've added mods since then i will doubt and say you dont have 20 HP from an intake and exhaust. The engine has been rebuilt, bored .020 over, bigger cam, new pistons. Still doubt it? And I never said I gained 20 horse from those two things. I said there was a small increase in power from those two things. Guess I could have been more clear on that. imtheoneandonlyD 12-15-2005, 03:24 AM yeah i do, i think you would be more then 20 hp over stock, lol. sandman96 12-21-2005, 04:27 PM Summitt racing sells it. I look forward to hearing how you installed this and what the results are. Slowprocess 12-28-2005, 03:05 PM Speaking on electric fans....My buddy put a set of LS1 electric fans out of a camaro in his 94 Dodge Ram and bought a little thermostat setup at a parts store. Keeps the truck really cool and he only has about $80 in it. Might be worth looking into for you guys. I can get some pics of the fans if you guys are interested in seeing them. I do have some of his exterior pics handy. http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/12/web/324000-324999/324858_74_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/12/web/324000-324999/324858_76_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/12/web/324000-324999/324858_79_full.jpg Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
