accord turbo questiondefiancy 08-07-2005, 04:02 PM I'm sure this question has been answered a million times before, but I looked for a good ten minutes and I don't understand all these crazy engine numbers. My buddy has a 2001 honda accord. It's a 2.3 lt Vtec and it's the two door model. Anyway, we were talking and I told him I'd find out some information on turbos for his car. My question is, what is the max hp these engines can handle without a rebuild? And what on average is the cost to add a turbo including install. And besides the obvious boost guage and boost controller, what else would he need to purchase for this turbo that might not be in an install kit? See I'm a dsm guy and I don't know to much about honda's but I'm trying to help him out. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. keomz 08-07-2005, 07:21 PM i was just wondering if i have to rebuild my bottem end if i put a turbo in a h22 engine,,,and if i do what would be the best thing to do for my car CivicSpoon 08-07-2005, 08:33 PM Based on how much people say the B-series engines (from the Acura Integras); it'd probably be able to handle 300hp. I'm not positive on that, it could be less. Mostly it depends on the tuning. He will need to get it professionally tuned if he wants to make some real power out of it. That's all I can think of at the moment. I'm sure there is someone else who can give you more info. Most kits are around $3,000; but you can piece one together for quite a bit cheaper. No clue on price, I have my friend do everything for me. He'll also need a MAP sensor bypass valve (forget what they're commonly refered to), injectors (if they don't come with the kit), a wideband O2 would be good, and a good EMS is a must. Most kits will give you an FMU, he should junk it for something better and more reliable. I'm not sure what kinds of EMS' are available for him since it's an '01, if it was an '00 or older there are tons. keomz - You should start your own thread instead of jacking someone elses, it's not polite (and unrelated to the previous topic). But it all depends on how much hp you're looking for. The h22a does have some beefy rods, but still I'd stay in the 300-350hp range at most. And if you do rebuild for more power, you will HAVE to resleeve it. The h22a's sleeves are some nickle fiber stuff and don't mix with aftermarket pistons (though there is a company that says their pistons work with the stock sleeves). vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
