Hello all,

With the cost of gas ^ every day, I have tried to make a few mods to my '05 z71 to increase gas mileage. However, I still only avg. 14 mpg per the computer in dash. I have put on a Gibson exhaust and installed a K&N airfilter but to know advantage. (Should have known better right.) The truck sounds mint, but does anyone have any suggestions? Is anyone getting better fuel economy? Curious for your responses. Thanks!

I haven't had any luck with the same upgrades. I was thinking of a gear change to the axles. Not sure if this is feasable. I currently have the 3.73. Is it possible to put in the 3.42?

I'm getting right at 17mpg city and 19.5 mpg hiway in my 1997 Tahoe LT 4x4. 181,000 miles. K&N filter and Taylor Plug wires are my only upgrade.

You must have 3.42 gears. I have 3.73 in my 99' and I'm lucky to get 17 mpg on the highway.

I've got a '99 with the 3.73 gears and I'm luck to get 13+ MPG. Only mod is K+N filter. What size tires are you running?

Were you talking to me?? I'm running 245/75 16 which is what it came from the factory. Is that 13 mpg city or highway or both? I can maybe see 13 mpg city if you gun it alot but 13 on the highway is horrible.

I have a 97 tahoe with 33 inch tires, no clue what gears, an airaid intake, airaid throttle body spacer, and a magnaflow exhaust and I get about 16 mpg.

I've got a '98 with 125k miles, 35" tires, 3.73 rear, VERY dirty K&N, true dual exhaust with a "glass pack" muffler on each pipe and power programmer "tuning" getting 14 mpg highway, 12-13 city. Considering I only drive about 5-10 miles on most days, I'll take it.

13 mpg is mostly city driving, I'm also riding on 265/75-16 yokohama geolander AT II. Even if I take it on the highway the highest i've ever seen is 14 mpg. The only way I could see getting any better highway miles is to do no more than the posted speed limit. I'm no speed demon but I do tend to hover around 5-10 miles over.

I have a '99, 4DR, 2WD, 3:42 gears, stock size tires, 106K miles, and since new this has gotten 15MPG city, 20 MPG highway. It started to get worse at 80K miles, but the plugs, wires, cap and rotor brought it back to 15/20. This thing is so predictable that if I reset the trip odometer at fill up, and if I've done all city driving, I can tell within .3 gallon how much it will take. It's uncanny.

You would think these power programer companies would come out with a program that could stop say two injectors from opening when at cruising speed on the highway,maybee tie it in with the trottle position sensor so they kick back in when you want them.
