Help: 2003 Instrument Cluster FailureMattson 08-07-2005, 08:00 AM This truck has about 32k on it. Twice in the last few weeks at random, when I would start the truck, I'd have no instrument cluster except the engine symbol when cranking and back lights. After some (20-40 minutes) drive time, the cluster would suddenly come on in "start-up" mode and remain fine until I turned the engine off. The most recent occurrence (today) was similar, except that I had a few random pixels of the larger VFD on, even with the ignition off. I eventually located the supply fuse for the cluster and pulled it (ignition off), killing the VFD. Upon re-installing the fuse, the random pixels did not return, but I still had no instrumentation. Does anyone have any guidance or knowledge they could share that might help me resolve this? Thank you, Mark HanibalTheCannibal 08-07-2005, 08:11 AM I would use the warranty if you have one to cover the cost of locating/repairing this problem. There is a relay that removes voltage from display/instruments/accessories while you are cranking, it is supposed to go back to a normally closed position after your truck starts. I would look in the relay department on that issue. BlenderWizard 08-07-2005, 09:33 AM Yeah an '03 with 32k on it is still under warranty. My '02 with 32k is under warranty still for a couple of months. Take it to the dealer and let them worry about it. HanibalTheCannibal 08-07-2005, 10:08 AM Hey, I wonder if my 01 with 38K is still under warranty? I got a GM Certified 3Mo/3000Miles warranty, But I wonder if any factory warranty remains??
