Hey man. Sorry I've took so long ot reply, lol. Didnt realize you had posted in this thread.

I just stayed with my Victor Jr. and 750 carb. The shop actually told me a TR would slow me down in the 1/8th.

He did tell me that he coudl do me a set of heads and intake that would make about 40 more hp then what my heads and intake make. I think I'll do that this winter if nothing dont happen. I like to change valve springs every year or so anyways, so we'll see.

And I accidentally flashed my converter the first time out this year, lol (forgot to switch to my two step from the three-step) and grabbed the trans. brake and floorboarded the car to see if it woudl stutter, lolol. It went to about 5100or so rpms (supposed to be a 5000 stall converter), lol, and I thought "SHIT! Good way to f-something up Matt", lol.

Anyways, I actually started leaving the line this weekend at 4400 rpms from 3800 rpms up untill this weekend.

Good luck with your new setup. Sounds good. The converter will help ya. And I'm hoping to sneak in a 1.3x 60' myself this year, lol. 1.41 is my best, so i've been close.

Ok, my 2nd time around on this thread. Sold the Camaro and bought a dragster. Yes, I know, you've seen one dragster, you've seen them all. You don't have to tell me twice, but it's much cheaper to go faster with one. Only 1/4 mile pass I've made was during my license passes. This was back in October. Really cold Friday night and track was terribly prepped. Lost traction at half track and about hit the wall. Got out of throttle and peddled it the rest of the way. IRP, errr, I mean ORP doesn't time the 1/4 during time trials for the bracket races so I have yet to run the full 1/4 all out. Valve seat came loose last weekend and destroyed the motor. Have our old motor out of the Camaro in it now, but have yet to run it. Should have the big motor up and going again in about a month.

I would like to reply, but more so I would like some input. I recently built a 78 malibu so I figured it would run 10 flat maybe 10.5 in the 1/4. first time out 12.8 and 12.6 running on 6 cylinders. this 454 punched 70 over with 13-1 je pistons, dart pro 1 345 heads ferret valves dart intake 1050 dominator. 10 flat should be easy. replaced the plug wires now its running on all eight. by the time I get to the burn out box it's running different. Now im running on 7 cyl and ran a 8.7 in the 1/8th. this is really starting to suck. The exhaust is so hot, it is burning up the plug wire almost immediately. I wrapped the exhaust and put boots over the wires. I don't know what else to do. any ideas on getting the exhaust temp down?

Hey guys! Been a long while since I've logged on....

Well.... In the never ending quest to satisfy the illness I've been diognosed with(AKA drag racing), I've made some changes to the pewter pig.... thought I'd share some specs and pics-

So, starting out with a perfectly good 346" H/C/N2o motor that did NOT need to be replaced..... I(you guessed it)replaced it. I should be slapped-

Went with another LSX motor. A Vengeance Racing( www.vengeancerd.com ) built L92 416" stroker took up residence under the hood.

Some of the details include:
Pump gas friendly 12:1 CR
Callies crank/rods
Manley, coated/gas ported pistons
Hell Fire rings
ARP main/rod/ head studs
TFS 225 heads, 350 cfm @ 0.600" (BIG thanx to Brian Tooley @ TEA)
Harland Sharpe roller rockers
FAST 90mm intake
NastyN8 rails
Nick Williams 90mm TB
Mezziere elect. water pump(race version)
Kook's 1-7/8" stainless Long tubes

End result was 550rwhp/502rwtq NA.

Motor still only has about 500 miles on it, so it may pick up some after a few thousand miles.. I've only made one pass in it since the build, and while it was an ugly pass w/a terrible 60'(left off the trans brake.... blew the tires/banged the limiter in 1st AND 2nd), it still trapped 130mph on motor.

Did some R&D with a ported Vic. Jr./sheetmetal elbow setup, but seemed to lose power under the curve, and lost some peak, so I'll be swapping the FAST 90 back on. Here's some motor shots, some of the TH400 swap, and suspension changes. Went with a different backspace on the rear wheels, to get the tire tucked in a bit more. Not a bad fit for a 28-12.50 MT ET Street on a stock width rear-

Car is finally under 3500 lbs.(3375#), but still looking for another 200 lbs.

So.... based on an abortion pass(driver error ALL the way), were thinking it's got 10.1x's/10.2x's @ 134-5ish in it on motor. Can't wait to hose it with a 300 hit. Low 9's should be a hoot.

Chevytrucks- LOVE the Nova! EXCELLENT choice. Been lookin' for a '6 myself. Have found a '66 Chevelle roller in pristine condition I may pick up for a cruiser.

lowsonoma1999- Nice ride! 60' #'s are tittylicious! Can't blame you one bit for the change in thought process. If I could, I'd do the same thing. Maybe in the next couple years-

Everyone else- Thanx for posting up. Glad to see we've got some go "qwik" guys here!

Looks like an awesome build lowetz! I'm currently waiting for a new motor. Having a 425ci stroker built with W5 heads. Ditched the blower. Gonna be looking for low 11's on the motor and then I'll hit it with a 200 shot (to start hehe). Should be fun. Hoping to have it ready before the tracks close this fall, if not then she'll make her debut in the spring. I'll post up pics when the engine is done. :iceslolan

What ECT's are you seeing, and have the EGT's been measured?

When you say "boots", are you refereing to plug wire sleeves(Nomex)?

If so, and you're still burning wires, then try re-routing them?

Sounds like EGT's are off the chart.

Update from my post on Page 6. After dropping valve seat earlier this year, engine has been bored to a 638. Threw away the Coan converter and put in a hughes, and had Rupert go through the carb. Picked up a bunch early on, but losing steam on the top end. Thinkin it needs a little looser converter. 60' times dropped, and am pulling 2.22 g's at launch. As you can see, 1/8th mile times have slowed, but picked up in the 60' and 330'.

Just so some of you guys know, don't just think because of 60' times or 1/8th mile times will give you an estimated 1/4mile time because it won't. I've been drag racing for a 10 years with a 73 Vega with a 383 best time of a 10.65 In the 1/4. But my 60' times were 1.277 but by the 1/8th mile the small block just couldn't keep pulling at the big end. I went threw the traps at 7200 rpm. It was fun. Now I have a 434 sbc without such a low gear and it pulls lower 60' times and runs 9.20's in the 1/4....
