View Full Version : C&C Renegade C&C Renegade Chris 04-30-2002, 07:10 PM Thoughts, anyone? Morpheus XIII 05-11-2002, 01:47 AM Is Renegade the C&C FPS? If it is, bravo for making it from scratch rather than using an existing engine, and also for making half decent vehicular parts of the game (well, anything is better than the hovering around in Halo). Chris 05-11-2002, 12:17 PM They used the Quake 3 gaming engine. And I made a copy to play at my dads (which is perfectly legal, it is for my own use) And it didn't work, it said "cannot locate the CD-ROM" I think it might be because his comp is NTFS, and my moms is FAT32, thats all I can think of. Still, it was fun. sarujin 05-12-2002, 05:54 AM C&C Renegade was not built using the quake 3 engine. The engine was totally made by westwood. The quake3 engine can't handle the transistions between outdoors and indoors. Anyway the quake 3 engine, is just the quake 2 engine, which is the quake engine!! or something like that. I've only played the demo of renegade, and it was an awsome game. Much more fun then TFC. I'rd buy it but I don't have the money :( sarujin Morpheus XIII 05-13-2002, 07:41 AM Yeah, the C&C FPS uses definately a ground-up engine, built from nothing. That is one of the few good reasons why it is so good. The nuances are unpredictable, in much the way a new engine should be. Once again, bravo, Westwood. Chris 05-13-2002, 08:38 PM My friend bought the game, and it when he beat the second-last level, it kicked him to the main screen. I hade to give him MY saved games! So it definately has some bugs. But one thing I like about it is that it supports my type of gaming, balls out with caution to the wind. In the last level, I tried hiding (like in Ghost Recon and MOHAA), but I just got killed. You have to run like a crazy guy, trying to get to the power-ups killing everything along the way, while all the lights and tiberium bullets go flying so you can't even see anything:D It really was fun in that way :) Morpheus XIII 05-15-2002, 06:32 AM Originally posted by Chris So it definately has some bugs. All part of the package when driving across uncharted territory. In other words, fresh programming does that. Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
