speepometer/engine lightqdogg 08-05-2005, 08:13 AM i have a 96 grand cheerokee im having problems with my speedometer going haywire also when this occurs my check engine light comes on ive replaced the output speed sensor and the vss sensor and still having problems i took it to a trns shop they inturn took it to a electrical shop the guy said he thought it was my ground wires well whatever he cleaned it it helped for about 3 days another trans shop told me that my co sensor was bad and that it may solve my problem since it may be an electrical problem someone please help i got the speed sensor blues jeeperphil 08-05-2005, 05:54 PM if the speed sensor on transfer case is acts up it will trip the check engine light. if the sensor has been changed, it may not have been orientated properly. take it out and check the number on the gear. thats how many teeth are on the gear. the outside of the sensor has a range of numbers at four different points around it. reinstall it with the range your gear number falls in aligned to the dot on the case. mine didn't work when I replaced it and several mechanics didn't seem to be aware of this. sounds like bad sensor or alignment. qdogg 08-05-2005, 10:34 PM i have a 96 grand cherokee speedometer is going haywire my speedsensor started acting up about 3 months ago but last week after a friend replaced my radiator is when the ceiling hit the fan the engine light is constantly on and the speedometer is very spuradic but now my tranny wont shift properly and cuts off after i come to a stop then accelerate ive changed both speed sensors but problem still exists i took my jeep to a trans shop they intern took it to a electical shop the guy thought that he fixed my problem by cleaning some ground wires i had no problems for about 3 days now im back to square 1 now check this out i was in my jeep today with the truck in park the speedometer was going haywire and i noticed that my odometer reading was asending before i existed the car i had driven 4.6 miles without actually driving the car another trans shop told me that it may be my abs control module someone please respond ps thanks jeepman vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
