How do I retrieve DTC codes from a 94 Cougar?
It's been coming on intermittenly so will the codes still be there when the CEL is off?

We have a 95 and had to get the carbon cleaned out of it to the tune of 1000 dollars. The check engine light came on periodically and then stayed on. We took it to AUTO ZONE for a free check and code.
When spark plugs were changed we found out that an oil leak that seems to be a problem with ALL cougars eventually happens and is about 1000 dollars to fix. This doesn't mean the problem won't return so we let it go. One quart a month is cheaper.
