Ping....ping.....ping!!!!!!!!!!!esfd455 08-02-2005, 07:14 PM OK.........Had an error code for my 1994 JGC V-8 5.2L with 170K miles. Bad O2 Sensor. Changed it and got the fault to go away. Now I notice that my engine PINGS when it comes under a load from starting out from a stand still or when I speed up on the road. I use 87 gas but have tried a higher octane 89 but it still PINGS.........Any suggestions? I am at a lose with this one. dksob81 08-02-2005, 07:48 PM when you are low on fuel (1/8 tank or lower) put some 93 octane in it about 1/4 tank and see if that helps. I don't get any pinging when starting out but I do notice it when going up hill. When I used 93 octane it went away. so I decided 93 is a lil prcey for me so I went down to 89 Octane, I still get a lil pinging but nothing like before. Did you pinging just start with new O2 Sensor? esfd455 08-02-2005, 08:11 PM WOW.....93 octane is very expensive. Tried the 89 octane and it seemed better but still pinged some. I did not have any pings until after I changed the O2 sensor. Maybe its time for a tuneup......Cap,plugs, etc.....I just hate the pings.......It sounds like you know what....The O2 sensor was a BOSCH Replacement. Oh.....When I run the A/C it even worse.......I also had a problem at the same time with shifting/sluggish so I changed the fuel filter which was very easy to do with the clips on it. Took only about 5-10 minutes......That solved the shift/sluggish problem big time........Now I have to get rid of the pings......I am not about 1/4 tank of 87 octane and I will fill up Thursday ( payday ) probably with a full tank of 93octane ( and cry when I pay the big bucks ).......And I will see if the problem goes away. TO BE CONTINUED !!!!!!!!!! SAME BAT CHANNEL ......BLAMMMM.....POWWWWW....Sorry got carried away back in my childhood.......LOL 89ltd 08-05-2005, 02:00 PM check the knock sensor too.. dksob81 08-05-2005, 04:35 PM No knock sensor in the 5.2L 89ltd 08-05-2005, 04:43 PM oh........ sorry, carry on. esfd455 08-07-2005, 07:59 PM Well thanks for all the replys..........I finally ran a full tank of HIGH OCTANE and now the pinging is gone. I have filled back up with 87 Octane and still no pings............I guess I had gotten a tank of bad gas.......Thank God that is gone......Thanks again. dksob81 08-07-2005, 11:01 PM Maybe having a full tank of the good stuff will help it in the long run, I think maybe I will have to fill up with the goo dstuff, it's been awhile since I actually filled the tank in my jeep with gas prices being so high. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
