'97 Ram 2500 TD low idle when cold or a/c on!!TMcNutt 08-02-2005, 12:16 PM I have a '97 Ram 2500 TD I6 that is a real pain in the morning. It doesn't like to idle and I need to be there to babysit it for a couple minutes til it decides it will idle on it's own. I believe it should be around 750 to 800 rpm, but it is around 400 or so, any lower and it dies. The same thing happens with the a/c on, while at a stop light in drive with the a/c on it idles down from 550 to below 400 and "dies". I'm willing to bet that it is a throtle position sensor but I'm no diesel mechanic. Anyone have any ideas???? Thanks!! RICHARD312 08-07-2005, 10:16 PM i keep hearing its the iac, i have the same problem with idle unioncreek 08-08-2005, 04:06 PM You may need to check the low idle adjustment. My idle dropped real quick to about 600. I had to adjust the idle up to 800 rpm with the air conditioner on and an auto tranny in Drive. Bobg vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
