I wonder if it could be an injector problem. what about when it is running? Any hesitations? It is hard to say if it is ignition or gas troubles. And too it could be a vacuum leak somewhere. You might need to check all your vacuum lines. curtishall 08-02-2005, 10:46 PM I ran 89 octane through it with some injector cleaner (through tank). It died when I pulled out of the gas station but didn't have any other problems. I don't know anything about how vacuums work. I do know that another odd problem is when I accerlate the amount of air being pushed out of the air vents decreases alot. Someone suggested the EGR valve, another suggested Crankshirt sensor, and another one said the fuel pump is dying.... Alas smoke'm 08-03-2005, 12:15 AM i would say the next check should be your egr valve. it's highly unlikely that all your fuel injectors would suddenly clog, and if even one or two did you would notice it at higher rpm as rough running or missfiring. same with the fuel pump, you would notice it more at higher rpm cause it wouldn't be able to supply the required amount of gas. could be a vacuum leak somewhere and if your egr valve is bad, that's exactly what's happening. valve is leaking by or stuck so you are losing manifold vacuum. a hanes manual will give you lots of checks you can do to see if the valve is good or not before you spend the bucks to replace it. curtishall 08-05-2005, 09:47 PM i would say the next check should be your egr valve. it's highly unlikely that all your fuel injectors would suddenly clog, and if even one or two did you would notice it at higher rpm as rough running or missfiring. same with the fuel pump, you would notice it more at higher rpm cause it wouldn't be able to supply the required amount of gas. could be a vacuum leak somewhere and if your egr valve is bad, that's exactly what's happening. valve is leaking by or stuck so you are losing manifold vacuum. a hanes manual will give you lots of checks you can do to see if the valve is good or not before you spend the bucks to replace it. Broke down and paid the $90 for a new EGR valve. Installed it in 30 minutes and bam - runs great. I'd recommend taking off the air box if anyone tries this...makes it alot easier RICHARD312 08-08-2005, 04:07 PM iac, main item causing it to shut off when gas pedal is released TheRodGod 08-20-2005, 03:39 AM Try cleaning your throttle plates.Had the same problem, worked for me. Sounds funny but true.(Clean, not scrape)Hope this helps. TheRodGod Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com! Registration is absolutely free. |
