Hi there all can anyone help me?
I have a '96' GCL and I am trying to fit a towball for towing in the UK. The car already has from what I have seen on a few internet sites a standard US RV connector (made by theodore bargman) and also has a kostal lamp outage module fitted. I would like to wire up a UK 7 pin plug using the items that are already fitted, so I don't have to change the lamp outage module etc. Has anyone managed to do this using existing equipment?

I have tested the wiring at the RV connector and it seems that the brake lights and indicators come from the same two terminals, but on a UK connector these come from seperate terminals, has anyone overcome this problem??

Looking at the RV connector the way it is wired up at the moment the colour of the wires that should be fitted at each terminal are completly different to what is actually fitted.

TERMINAL 1 SAYS WHITE FITTED BLACK
TERMINAL 2 SAYS BLUE FITTED BLUE
TERMINAL 3 SAYS GREEN FITTED BLUE/RED
TERMINAL 4 SAYS BLACK FITTED BLACK/PINK
TERMINAL 5 SAYS RED FITTED GREEN
TERMINAL 6 SAYS BROWN FITTED BROWN
AND THE MIDDLE TERMINAL FITTED GREEN/ BLACK

Can anyone help me or should I contact a good auto electrician??
It seems a shame to throw away parts already fitted and replace them with new parts.

Cheers in advance for any help
Tim

Iam not sure if the UK 7 terminal are the same as the US. Her is my US 7 pin connector.
1=Common to ground -white
2= Electric Brake-Blue
3=Tail&License -Green
4=Converter-Black-Battery Charge
5=Stop&left Turn-Red
6=Stop&left Turn-Brown
7=Auxillary Ground or Extra Circuit-Yellow-Backup
Hope this can help it is just matching the male Trailer to the Female Jeep. Try Using a Test light and matching each one up. 3&5 are the only ones that might be problem or it might be the Uk wirring codes are different on those Terminals.
