Truck just won't start!

Help!!!!
We installed an engine in our 1988 Ford 250 PU, it started ok a few times. We decided to try a different distributor cap, the engine has not started since. Switched back to the orginal distributor cap, still no go. There was a new coil installed but there is no spark on the plugs and the fuel pump also doesn't work.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated because explosives at this point is looking pretty tempting.......lol.
Could someone please give me some type of info regarding this problem, I've noticed many have view but no reply's.
