911 GT2 (996) vs F4309eleventb0 07-29-2005, 03:43 PM Which car would win in a straight line race and on a track? Personally I'd take the F430 even if the GT2 is quicker overall, but I'm still curious which would win. illegal_eagle187 07-29-2005, 03:56 PM im goin with the GT2 straightline and on the track drunken monkey 07-29-2005, 05:05 PM just like to point out that even though the GT2 has more power, it isn't the best performing track car from porsche. That would be the GT3RS. thecackster 07-29-2005, 05:31 PM Accually the f430 has more power deadbolt_35 07-29-2005, 05:59 PM you're both way off...well, just a little bit off. first off the f430 puts out 483 horsepower and the gt2 is "only" 462, and the gt2 isn't any faster, according to motortrend, they both hit 60 in 3.7 seconds. as far as handling goes? there's no way the gt2 is better than the f430. read any review or comparison test on the ferrari, and you'll see how incredible the new f430 is. 68.7mph throug the 600ft. slalom is crazy fast, not to mention the $15,000 option of carbon ceramic brakes, it even beat the ford gt in a comparison test, mainly because of it's incredible handling. i love porsche, and the gt2 is an amazing car, but you're comparing a car that's going to be 4 years old soon to the newest supercar from ferrari. the ferrari f430 wins BlackGT2000 07-29-2005, 07:57 PM I read that issue where the f430 was compared to the GT on the way to iraq, it didn't win due to its handling. It won on a lot of subjective categories like feel and crap like that. The GT was faster straight line and was easier to drive, the f430 was not quite as easy to drive. It may have inched out the GT in handling but that is definatley not why it won the comparo. The F430 is awesome but its not the end all car. drunken monkey 07-29-2005, 08:01 PM I was talking about the GT2 compared to the GT3RS. GT2 has more power than the GT3RS but it isn't the better track car. 9eleventb0 07-30-2005, 12:36 PM The GT3 RS isn't really a fair comparison since its such a crude, stripped down racer. Both the GT2 and F430 however do have some degree of comfort and are also similar in base price (though dealer markup im sure is far more for the ferrari). Also, if you think about it, the GT3 was pretty much as quick as the 360 CS around a track, and we know that the GT2 is significantly faster than either car. Now, I beleive the F430 was only about 0.2 seconds faster than the CS on their test track, and many of the people that have driven both feel that the CS can achieve times equal to or slightly less than the F430. With that in mind, its hard to say which would really be quicker on a track, though I feel the GT2 might have a slight edge. That said, the GT2 is a very difficult car to drive at the limits, and so I'm sure the F430 would feel less unnerving to drive quickly around a track. But the sparks are really gonna fly when the 997 TT comes out... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
