Has anyone else had an issue with the power steering being tight, as in almost non-existant, making it difficult to turn the wheel when the vehicle is NOT moving only? it's almost like the power steering doesn't work unless the car is moving.....fluid level is fine, and i'm baffled.
Thanks...

yea I've noticed that in my impala. Its hard as hell to turn the wheel when not in motion. I just found out that there is a leak in my powersteering but this has been happening even before the leak. Anyone have any ideas what it may be? When did you start noticing this?

Mine was doing the same thing, and the replaced the rack and pinion in it because it was leaking fluid. It actually improved the steering a lot and i never had a problem fixed. I know for sure that it's a big and a half to get it out and back in. LOL..might as well throw a new motor in it too while your at it......

I don't know what year car you have, if it has a belt and a conventional power steering pump, make sure that the belt is not slipping or glazed up. If it looks dry and cracked, replace it.

he is talking about the serpentine belt. If it was slipping i'm sure you would have noticed it by the squealing.

Mine does the same thing. Started doing it after an alignment after I replaced the left inner tie rod myself.

Well i had my rack and pinion replaced about six months ago. I just had a converter replaced the other day and they said my rack and pinion thing was leaking again...man this shit pisses me off!!!!!
