still trying to find out from the dealer if my 99 3.2 v6 rodeo has a non interfearance engine or not. My timing belt is possibly shot and they tell me they don't think so, but before I let them strip down the motor I would kind of like to know! Can anybody enlighten me?

It's non-interferance. It's been a point of confusion as manuals list it as interferance, but it's well proven it's not.

Here's a quote from our moderator - Amigo-2K

"it is non-interfer. A couple of Isuzu mechanics have confirmed it here, and one owner had an independent shop replace the belt and one side was 180 degs out (meaning if the valves could slam the pistions they should of); he ran the truck, and it didn't run right, took it to the dealer who fixed it."

Do a search on "intereferance" and you'll find some good discussions on the topic.

It's non-interference in reality, but may be listed as interference in some books due to some particular definition that I can't recall. Suffice it to say, no engine damage should your timing belt break.
