98 Door Lock Actuators Noisydougand3 07-28-2005, 02:19 PM 98 Front Door Lock Actuators/Solenoids make quite a racket. They do function as designed. Anybody pull them apart and quiet them? Or do you just gotta replace them? Thanks, Doug garync1 07-30-2005, 10:59 AM It may be the linkage hitting on something. Also check to make sure the plug connections are well pluged in. Just a thought. 98er 07-30-2005, 02:26 PM My driver's door electric lock stopped working about a month ago. I removed the panel (four screws and a lift) and removed the latch assembly. There is linkage to the manual lock button, the lever, and the outside handle. The outside handle is the noisiest of the group - a very simple and functional, if loose fitting, design. The remote module is removed by lightly prying it from the latch after latch removal. When I opened it, I found the motor brushes to be toast. Your typical heavy duty hobby motor but could not find an exact replacement. Odd for 65K miles. It must have been on its way at the start. Could not clean and had to replace. The replacement part is significantly different and more robust. It's a combination of nylon screw gears and straight cuts. More info than you wanted but... Marc/Atlanta 98 Windstar 97SHO garync1 08-01-2005, 10:28 AM I just got my universal Actuators in the other day i am going to test my theory That I can add and steal power from the old and keep everything in place just add the uni type in. If this works I will have only 8 bucks in my project.. Will send post info once done even if i fail.. The worst case ..Blow a fuse or relay or two. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
