rear window alignment

The rear window shifted up about 3" on my 95 s10 blazer over the course of a year after putting new lifters (cylinders) on it. I finally took off the aftermarket lifters and the window settled back down into place with some extra help I gave it (about 240lbs). At the moment I have no lifters on the rear glass. I've seen several other posts on this subject but no answers besides drilling larger holes or slots into the hinges so it can be lowered down. But this won't help a 3" gap.
To any of you that had this problem:
Did you have factory lifters?
Did you have to replace the entire rear glass hinge assembly?
Is there a way to remove the hinges from the glass and/or reglue?

any help would be greatly appreciated
