Big 16g, small 16g, or evo III 16g. What to choose

Which one would you guys reccomend for someone that wants to race.

lol. You have to be more specific than that. I would go though either with the Big 16g or the Evo 16g(maybe even the GT :naughty:) But anything will be better than the t-25. I think the EvoIII 16g is good for up to 400hrspwr, the GT up to 380 and the Big 16g for 380 and then the small 16g at 340. It's just going to depend on how it's going to be used and how deep your pockets are :2cents: :2cents:

I need a turbo quick but im not just going to spend it on something that is not worth it. You guys think that the t28 is alright

A while back when I was "turbo shoppin" I came accross the T-28 but all the feedback I got from it is that it would be better just to get the EvoIII. Think about it this way: the T-28 does bolt right on with no mods but it costs a couple hundred more and yields less power potential. The EvoIII(most common upgrade) costs a couple hundred less :2cents: and gives out more power. Either way you cant just bolt up a new larger turbo and expect a huge power increase. To get the most out of it you will have to get new injectors, fuel pump, some sort of afc and etc.

Go with the EVO III 16g. It holds it's resale value very well, so if you decide to upgrade down the road you will get top dollar. Stay away from the T-28...it costs more than the EVO III + install kit and yeilds a lower airflow. It is designed more for people that want to retain the stock look.
The EVO III has a 2.5" turbine outlet vs. 2" on the big 16g. The compressor wheel is slightly larger but lighter than the big 16g wheel. Also, the entire turbo itself is lighter. It also flows more air. :naughty:
Small 16g flow = 34 lbs/min
Big 16g flow = 36 lbs/min
EVO III 16 flow = 42 lbs/min
All that, and it's only about $10 more than the big 16g.

Where would be the cheapest evo III i could get. I would also have to get a install kit to go along with that right.

Alright Slow boying racing has one for $569 plus $199 for install kit. Turbochargers.com has one for $550 plus a $125 install kit.They also have cheaper ones one ebay for around $525.

I think the T28 is an underrated turbo, personally. Everyone and their brother will tell you to get the EvoIII, but if you get a good deal on a T28, you can do a lot with it as well. For one, it spools a little bit faster than the EvoIII. Sure, people claim it's only 200 rpm faster, or whatever, but I think there is a bigger difference than that.
Some guy on Tuners ran a 12.3 on pump gas in his 2g awd with a Big T28. If you are going to get a T28, make sure it is the FP Big T28. The others are significantly inferior turbos to 16gs.

I have certain "issues" :grinyes:
The biggest problem I have is that I refuse to upgrade the stock catback. I have a DP and race cat, but the stock cat back is a huge bottle neck. Also, I haven't upgraded my UICP yet (that should be comming in the mail soon :naughty: )
I am also still on the SMIC as opposed to a FMIC. I am ordering water injection when I get back from vacation and should have the WI and the UICP installed in about 3 weeks. That should make a huge difference.

I ordered the GT version(hopefully curiousity won't kill the car;) and should be putting it on today or tomorrow. I'll let ya'll know how it performs and lasts.
