As you may know I have 99 JGC. I need to get a trailer hitch. It looks as though I have the large cover over the area on the back of the vehicle, below the bumper where it would be mounted. Any help anyone can give on how to install or remove the outer cover to install a trailer hitch would be greatly appreciated! :bananasmi

Did you figure any thing out on those panels yet???

Usually they are held in with clips and just pop out. try sliding a thin, dull knife blade under the edge and "see whats there".

With the hitch fitting in from behind the panels, you should be able to see any clips or bolts from behind.

Never looked at one of these. My 96 has the hitch hanging below the bumper..... Just sayin what I'd look for.......

Just went jeep shopin tonite. Seems the 03's I looked at have a solid bumper cover where the hitch goes and the hitch kit would have a trim cover for the cutout that is made to install the hitch....... The bumper cover has a trim groove that looks like it would pop out )from a distance) but it has to be cut..... (not where the groove is!!!) There should be a template or something in the kit.
