To make a long story short about a week ago I had a tune-up and oil change on my Honda, went out of town this past weekend about a 350 mile trip, everything went fine but today the check engine light came on it wasn't there yesterday but any advise would help? Could it have something to do with the tune-up or oil change please advise The car is still driving :smokin:
Thanks

only way to know what the problem is...is to pull the codes. since you went on a long trip...you must have filled up on gas....did you make sure to tighten the gas cap at least 3 clicks? just a thought.....but it's best to pull the codes and go from there.

Hi:
I have a 98 Accord LX V-6, now with 182,200 miles on it. I have had check engine lights on in past. Replaced catalytic converter, cannister vent valve, and Oxygen sensor. Dealer read codes and conducted work.
- 164,600 miles: replaced catalytic converter and cannister vent valve.
- 177,000 miles: replaced Oxygen sensor at front of converter.
Just recently, Check engine light came back on. I suspect that the gas cap was not on tightly. Had car checked at autozone (for free) and code registered EGR flow insufficient. Autozone will conduct test for free. They just plug a small hand held analyzer into computer port located under left side dash area where drivers left leg would be. Takes about 2 minutes to test.
I am hoping check engine light will not come back on. If so, I will take to dealer and check the codes and possibly look at EGR system.

Have you tried pulling off the egr valve and spraying it down with a throttle body cleaner? The gasket itself only costs about 4 bucks, and this way you could clean out all the ports with relative ease, as well as make sure the egr valve is in correct working order. (It should move freely up and down with a bit of resistance, but not too easilly). While you were at it, you could check all the vacuum lines going in and out of the egr system and make sure that none of them are clogged up.
