Hi everyone,
I have a 1994 Clio 1.4RT Auto (only 48,000 miles) - normally starts well, idles evenly & goes well (first off at traffic lights etc)
For the last week it has been difficiult to start when cold, idles v lumpily (some missing) and dies when the accelerator is used. However all this goes away when the engine has warmed up (though think that there's a little less power than before)
I can't see anything wrong on first look - ideas anybody.
One possible clue, a front wheel bearing was changed (by a garage) a week ago, the cold start problem dates from the same day (first cold start after the garage visit) - is this a coincidence (!? yeah really) or is there something thay could have done to get a return visit! (more money to fix a problem they caused...)

Hey, ive just bought myself a nice tidy Mk1 1993 Clio and im having a problem very similar sounding to this thread 'Automotive Forums (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/index.php) > Renault (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=770) > Clio (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=405) - 1993 1.4 clio loss of power under acceleration' U may have the same problem, im still waiting for the time to have a look at the carb, but the Redex sounds reasonable and cant do any harm. I reckon u should try that cause when i start it cold and try and use the gas, the low-mid rev cause very slight loss of power and shudders. Let me know if u find anything better out please, cause like i said i have a similar problem :P CS

Just another quick thought, after id cleaned the car up a bit and mess about with the plugs and HT leads, mine ran horribly. Id also taken off the distributor, and cap. I could tell it was shuddering due to mistimed firing, probably an earth. I had by accident left a tiny bit of damp in the Distributor Cap, once i cleared this up, the cold start problem went away immediately, so the garage could easily have just wetted it down to get more cash. Id make that your first check. No worries :) CS

"Wetted it down" where do you get your ideas from?
