help removing radio from 1991 Ford Escortstarjan 07-25-2005, 08:48 PM I have a 1991 Ford Escort. I just bought a CD player to put in it but I am having the worst time trying to get the old radio/cassette player out. I saw the page on how to remove one from a '99 model, but how do I remove it from mine? Any help would be greatly appreciated. dougand3 07-25-2005, 09:21 PM My 93 radio had 4 holes...2 vertical holes on each end. Fashion 2 "square U"s with wire coat hanger with the prongs the same distance as the holes. Pook a U into each set of holes ~3/4"-1". They will release 4 catches and the radio will slide straight out. starjan 07-25-2005, 10:16 PM Thank you SO much!!! I really really appreciate your help!! :) Bobbywolf 07-26-2005, 09:07 AM Yep, thats how I did it. Alternativly you could go to the ford dealership and pay $40 for the proper tool (prebent coathangers basically lol). Just fashion the coat hangers and you will be fine. hybridpunk 08-24-2005, 06:27 PM walmart has the tools for $1, it is called DIN Removal tool, it is in the audio section with all of the amp wiring chevyn0va1 08-24-2005, 08:29 PM I have a 1991 Ford Escort.
