radio goes on and off with brake pedal

What is going on I step on the brake and the radio goes off. I let go of the brake and the radio comes back on. It does'nt do it all the time about 80% of the time its a problem. Before i rip apart the dash did anyone else have this problem with a 97 6 banger camaro. Thanks for the help.

thats wierd....are you sure there isnt a wire hanging next to your brake pedal and its touching touching ground every time you brake?

lol, wow.. that would piss me off in a heartbeat. Try pulling your radio out and check all the connections. Could be a loose wire. Is it aftermarket, or the stock radio?

its not behind the dash, its going to be a wiring problem like korndogg said, look around the brake pedal area moving the lever by hand and checking the wires it was coming in contact with. it dosnt have to be a rub through, but even if its pulling on a wire it could be breaking its contact.

and then the problem would still be there when you got a new one. Its not the radio. So if yer engine doesnt start one day...your gonna pull it out and smash that too???

Check your fuses

I just thought it might also be the connection to radio. My Kia did the same thing every time I hit a small bump. Pulled the radio, and what do ya know, the connector was halfway plugged into it.

i can do with out a radio as long as i have a 3'' free flowing exhaust :)

little off topic, but back when i had my 240sx i did a engine swap and when it was done i screwed up the wiring and when u hit the wipers the damn lights came on and the radeo made the horn go off, i got clowned by every single person i knew in roanoke, it was pretty damn funny

my first car was my 95 accord coop, had it for 3 weeks and totaled it in a freak accedent, then a week later i got a new toyota camry, damn thing through a rod as soon as i got it in the front gate....new car and i got it from the dealer. then i got the 89 240sx they had on their lot, had that for a few yrs then i got my first eclipse it was a 95, traded that in for a 96gst which in turn my ex girl totaled in the damn rain...smh. came back from over seas a year later and got a 98 cobra that i payed cash money for. kept it untill 03 and traded that in for the new gt, hated it but my room mate loved the damn thing (shes a chick go figure) so she took over the payments and with the money down from the gt i bought my 96rs which in turn i love better than both mustangs and all my other imports and its a damn v6. but its paid for and soon will be a beast.

That last one is the pride and joy, no matter how f***** up it is. Btw, a question i been pondering awhile now. Is my car really an IROC or a Z28? It says IROC-Z28 on the dash, but it says Z28 on the side skirts, debadged in the back. I think the car was previously in an accident, because the Z28 emblems just don't look right. It had all the options an IROC came with the 305tpi, which btw i think was top of the line z28, if i give a vin# can someone verify? The IROC-Z decals are not present either, which i think the car was repainted and in an accident, plus the driver door was replaced.

lol the order i got them. the olds survived unscathed, the RS is the one that got desroyed, the IROC only has a little damage on the radiator support, which i plan on fixing, i rolled the jeep and supposidly totaled it, although i think one of the body shop guys wanted it and just said it was totaled so id leave it behind. and the honda is dying of its own accord (haha, no pun intended)
