hi dudes.... damn, my service engine soon light came on today. not sure what could cause it. could it be the K&N drop in air filter? could it be the universal muffler? :( I tighten the gas tank cap until it clicks 3 times... wat the hell could this be?

seems like the engine is running fine. can't believe it. it's only got 5,000miles on it. :( wat a piece of junk these P11's.

If that's all the mods you have then take it to the dealship.

yeh, what a hassle. btw, does the 'service engine soon' lamp go off automatically after it senses that the engine returned to its normal condition, or does the dealer have to turn it off or reset it after a diagnosis?

thanx.

take it eazzzzzzzy!! dont diss the cars in general just because YOU may or may not have a problem with yours. lol

before you over react, just go to the dealer.

my mom had this same thing happen in her new Jetta a few months back. the car drove fine but the light came on. she went to the dealer, they took a diagnosis from the ecu and found out that one of the hoses wasnt on tight enough and was losing a bit of pressure.

no big deal.

bboogie, not over reacting just got fedup. thanx for your input about your mom's jetta. hope it's just something as simple, like that, ya know, in&out from the dealership within the hour.

but in the back of my head, I'm still thinking 'should've gotten me the 325I.' if I had to go to the dealer all the time for small things like this, I rather have a better, faster car. man, never had to take my honda's in for such cheezy service...and I drive them much MUCH(!!!) harder. this is a made in Japan car, shouldn't have to worry with such made in elsewhere kinda crap. this is why these issues piss me off...me being a Japanese and all. wat happened to J-quality? the hells with this rattling instrument panel??! the hell's with this sloppy AT? it's the 3rd year for crying out loud (2001 model) and wat the hell's with this rotten egg smell from the exhaust?! . not over reacting, I am just very dissappointed...and for those of you who had to experience this, you should be too. if it wasn't for the mods I did to make the car look good, I would've takin it in to BMW for a trade in right now. not dissing our rides, just pointing out the sh't I've been dealing with. ( should've bought a Hyundai Sonata. gahahaha, now dat's dissing. :D naw naw, no Hyundai's for me, man. don't wanna have to go to the dealer every week for the next 10 years of their warranty)

thanks for da support, guys. if it wasn't for you guy's input I would've been going haywire by now as cars are my #1 priority. wife's always jealous by the 1st class care I treat my cars. hehehe. cars better live up to its standards or get kicked out of my garage. :p

called up the dealer this morning (took 15minutes until someone in the Infiniti service answered at Motorwerks of barrinton, IL) and they told me to ride the car as is with the service light on until wed/thurs. He said that it should go off automatically...if not, make an appointment next week. some fluctuations in the fluids sometimes causes the light to come on....he said. ?! is that so?

he also mentioned that if the service soon light begins to flash, need to bring the car in. otherwise, just drive it around for a few days and the ECU should reset itself.

now that's a weird option nissan put on our cars....meaning less to tell you the truth.

Ken, I don't know if this counts, but I have a feeling that you are being fed BS. I assume your car is still under warranty (you really should mention the year in your profile). I would insist on getting the car checked at the dealer. Fluctuations my ass! If the service engine light comes on, then something is wrong!!!

Kenchan...i can understand your disapointment in being handled badly.
I some times wonder that companys forget about the small average guy out there. Its places like AF and word of mouth that sells cars i believe. You learn from people that own the car you want and from what sort of dealings you get from that company/car. I remember that my parents brought a brand new *****(wont say incase i upset people) and the car was crap and they got pissed around by the dealer. I learnt from that, and i would NEVER buy there cars. It rubbed off on there family and friends to stay clear of them.

If i was you,I would go back in there and make a scene and make them take notice of you untill you get the service you are happy with.

primeraman- yah, you're right. if that light doesn't go off and if I do have to go in to the dealer for service, I'll make sure I come back out happy. btw, they are a BMW dealer too. hummmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:licker: yummy hope that light goes off soon. it's like glaring at me when it gets dark outside. I can't dim it and it keeps changing colors..orange to red to green to orange to red to green. oh, I'm just kiddin about the colors. :bloated:

Kenchen...hows the light problem coming along.....did you take it back yet ???

naw, not yet. I'm gonna give it a few more days before i call back. seems like the car is running just fine. the 'service engine' light is not flashing, so it is probably nothing really serious...

if it doesn't go off by the weekend, I'm gonna reset the ecu myself and see what happens. if it comes on again, I would guess there is a problem with something and will need to get it checked out. hope the resetting doesn't ruin the ECU. hahahaha, now that would suck big time. :D
