He said he already started the work but does not have time to finish it and wants to get rid of it. i don't have it yet but was wondering if there was anything i needed to know about the job? tips, tricks, anything the manual does not tell you And is it rear wheel drive?

Hey,

Not sure what the manual tells you. I would definatley replace the head bolts with new ones. Also no matter what the mileage is on the tercel replace those valve seals. There pretty cheap and they tend to leak. (On my tercel I get a huge amount of blue smoke on startup, less than 100,000 miles and it burns oil). You can lay the head on a counter and put a straight edge on it and try to slide a feeler gauge under it to see if its warped. Your manual probably has more info on what is acceptable. Most of the time its a good idea to take it to a machine shop and have it milled which is less than a 100 bucks. Dont wanna do the job twice.
