Anyone have a "performance" chip? (Venom 400)

MY brother keeps telling me I should get a Venom chip for my LX. Said it will give me up to 25% more power. The funny thing is, I've been on honda forums a while and never heard anyone talk about these things. Does anything need to be beefed up when adding this chip or what?
What's the deal on Venom chips and where can I get one for a decent price?

Thanks

What's up Jonathon. You need to talk to my brother. He's got that chip on his 96 Accord four door. He says he can tell the difference. PM me.

25% is not very likely. i've got a chip that remaps the fuel, lets vtec kick in at 5000, and disengages the rev limiter. its got more torque but probably only a few hp if any. if you really want hp you need to have a chip custom made by a programer with hondata stage 4 system. it will take about 3-4 hours of dyno time to get it right. then you'll get some hp but not from generic chips.

Hey man what one do you have, I would like one that does away with the rev limiter and lets vtec kick in faster. What brand?, where? and how much? Or are there better ones that do the same thing?

I had it in my 1993 Civic Ex automatic and it prolly decreases your gas mileage by 25%. I felt the Venom 400 module didn't do anything except use gas quicker.

If you've never heard it mentioned on here, you haven't been paying attention. Don't waste your money.

I agree, a "chip" on a n/a car... especially a Honda, is pointless... only thing I would ever consider chips for are like the Twin Turbo 300zx or something of that nature, and for that see Mr Jim Wolfe! Takes a 300hp TT 300zx upto 378hp with a 25 minute install

You People only think about top end horses. To inform you idiots the venom 400 added about 25 lbs of torque to my car and lots of acceleration. It only claims to add 25% horsepower between 1,000 and 5,000 RPMs which is perfect because shortly after that the VTEC kicks in. Do you people honestly think that a $300 chip could give you 25% more peak horsepower?!? Give me a break. It drastically helps acceleration and gives you more torque. My 0-60 time dropped hella and I actually reccomend these things. Go research one instead of listening to these ignorant fools who don't know what they are talking about. In the low RPM range these are great and probably do add about 20-25% more horsepower between 1,000 and 5,000 RPMs. Its not all about having the "most horsepower" folks. Do a little research before you talk. Oh Yeah and for the guy who said it uses gas faster... Well it does. It checks 40 times a second to make sure the air fuel ratio is right and for people without these IT USUALLY ISN'T. Making sure the engine has enough fuel is important. If you would rather not spend as much on gas and you would like your engine to not get enough fuel most of the time then I wouldn't buy one. If anyone wants to argue with me go ahead. I'll take any arguments but if not, please folks don't act like you know if you don't. -Matt (My civic is faster than yours);)

If there is one thing you have to learn is that when unaminous vote says something is fishy it usually is. The Venom 400 works by tricking the ECU into thinking that you are pressing down on the gas pedal more than you actually are. So if I'm pressing down on the pedal 25% the Venom 400 tells the car's ECU that you are pushing down 35-40% so in effect the car's ECU sends more fuel to the engine. So that means all I have to do to go faster (without the Venom 400) is to press on the gas pedal harder - WOW!

The Venom 400 is like the Vortex electric Supercharger and the wax that stops lazers. All fools gold. Invest your money on something more worth while.

BAaAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! LMAO!!!!!!!!! I don't know if it's just because it's 3 in the morning or what but that was some funny shit right there. Funny shit.....

You call people ignorant fools eh? You are about to get owned. :)

Anyways, I believe the money could be much better spent. That money could go towards a swap or a B20 block. Which would, in the end, provide a lot more low end power than some chip. Plus, seeing as how the chip basically tricks the car into thinkign it's getting more air than it should and thus giving it more gas - running rich is a risk as well.

But like I said. You are about to be owned.

you sir are a fuckin moron, plain and simple.

do you know how the venom 400 works at all? because if YOU "stopped to do the research" and stopped looking at manufacturer's websites and believing everything they said you wouldnt have posted your useless and offensive post. so instead of reading all your prized information off the internet and thinking you know what your talking about try signing off and going outside and getting some real world experience.

and for mister fucking know it all, heres how your dream product works.

A.) it fools your car into thinking the throttle butterfly is more open then it is and your map reads more air then is really there thus letting it dump more fuel into the mixture and making you run much more rich then you should be because the air flow has not been altered at all. running rich looses power in case you didnt knwo that either.

B.) by thinking the butterfly is more open then it is your car's ecu goes into open loop mode sooner then it would and making you run rich. open loop mode runs rich by default for protection.

C.)during closed loop mode your O2 sensor also determines your fuel correctons along with the map sensor and tps sensor so this thing would have to modify the injectors output signal as well as the input signal. just modifing the map sensor and tps sensor would be picked up by obd2 computers and corrected. not to mention if it wasnt picked up it would still make you run rich and loose power.

D.) fact of the matter is it plain out just does not know what your mods are, nor how much air is really coming into your engine so it boosts the signals to what venom thinks they should be and totally disregards what corrections actually need made which in fact your ecu is very well capable of doing by itself.

oh by the way it cant "read your air fuel ratio" since it doesnt hook up to any O2 sensors and that is the only way to read it.

if you people want something like this thats usefull then buy a vafc or an safc. at least with that there is no guessing on whats going on and you can actually tune it for your own cars specific needs instead of having faith that some idiot like civicex99 working at venom is deciding how much your map and tps sensors voltage should be altered. sure and obd2 computer will learn these out to but pulling the fuse will correct that and you will still have your vafc setting that are for "YOUR CAR" not every car

if you have anything else to say smartass please do so because i would love to get into the specifics......i am so in the mood.
