Oh crap....dreadful metallic knocking89T Type Chick 07-21-2005, 01:08 PM Well, after cleaning off the MAF screen, sensor, and the rest of the throttle body, the T was running better than ever again! I was extremely happy....that is until a couple days after when I started hearing a dreadful metallic knocking sound. I started hearing it as I was taking care of the MAF sensor issue, but it was very quite. However, a couple days later, it got much louder. :( It sounds almost like there are metal pieces clanking around under the hood. I haven't listened to exactly where it's comming from yet, but it sounds an awful lot like it's towards the back of the motor, near the bottom. The car is close to 159,000 miles. Last summer I heard a knocking sound and that turned out to be the timing chain (So, I got that replaced at 150,000 miles). I'm not having any drivability issues. It's not sluggish at all.....in fact, it's running better than it has in a loooong time. I'm just hoping that it's not the end for my baby T. :uhoh: I know it's difficult to figure out w/o actually hearing the noise yourself, but I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem and figured out what it was. I've taken it to three different mechanics now and all they are telling me is to get a new motor or to just trash the thing and get a new car. :disappoin Well, the new car part is not going to happen, so I figured I'd try to get as much feedback on this as possible. Any info. would be MUCH appreciated! Thanx all!
