i guess its the same as a water sprayer although it sprays CO2 onto the intercooler and it says it will drop the temp of the intake by 60%

i was wondering if anyone has used one of these and/or knows of a cheaper kit? ( i can build it myself with just buying the actual sprayers and getting everything else from my local paintball shop)

there are 2 different systems...

they have what is called water injection or water/alcohol injection which sprays a fine mist of liquid into the air stream to mix with teh air and effectively lower the temperature of the intake charged air.

another way is to spray a chemical like nitrous or CO2 onto your intercooler. which basically cools down your intercooler and lowers the temperature air in your intake stream non-directly.

both ways work...the first system would probably be a little more difficult to make because it would have to work perfect. if the second system failed...it would not cause a problem. your intercooler just wont cool down.

i dont know which type your friends has...but im guessing it may be like Fast and the Furious where he had a oval bar that sat in-front of the intercooler.

Well if all you are going for is an intercooler spray (ie external to the intake system) then all you would need is the CO2, something to spray it out of mounted on the intercooler and a way to trigger it.

But this method of course is temporary at best. Mostly this sort of this is used in drag racing and dyno pulls.

Yes he did, I got the video of that somewhere. Sprayed his front mount with CO2 or nitrogen or something else cold right as he laid into the throttle.

ahh...thanks broke. that would be the video clip. very nice...i have a video of him giving people rides in his Z. thing sounds like a beast but he has his cam durations set so it lacks a good, clean idle...kind of reminds me of a carbed V8 until he gets higher in RPMs, then the Z sounds bellows through. ill try to find it....
