99 s-10 fuel pump bad?railroad_foreman69 07-18-2005, 07:21 PM OK here's how it went down, exiting the interstate today after a 5 hour drive home from the beach( sure am glad it happened then and not somewhere in between !!!!!) my engine quickly lost power and stalled. Restarted instantly, ran for appx. 5 minutes and stalled again ! Then it stalled again appx 10 mins later. It did this once before about a year ago and no trouble since. It was also very hot outside both times this happened ! Reckon it could be vaporlock??? I installed a 2 inch body lift, maybe i got a gas line too close to something hot? I really hope it's not the fuel pump 'cause that thing is 300 bucks and i don't get paid for 2 weeks!!!!!! Any suggestions?????????????? OverBoardProject 07-19-2005, 01:39 AM I don't think that it's Vapor Lock otherwise the truck wouldn't have re-started. It's worst after you leave the truck shut off for 10 min or so, allowing the fuel to vaporize in the system. Then good luck starting your truck until morning. Fuel Pump is possible, but I wouldn't change it until you run a fuel pressure test first Your paying too m uch if a fuel pump costs you $300.00 unless your including Labor costs. The most that it costs through Rockauto on the internet (try Google) is $172.00. I just typed in a 92, with a 4.3L since I don't know what your truck is. Good Luck, and I hope that it isn't anything major vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
