92 si engine (d16z6) into 94 LX 4drhellbird79 04-26-2002, 02:15 AM I am currently swapping out my 94 Lx nonvtec 1.5, for a 92 d16z6. I have the complete swap, except for the P28 ecu, i am also using my original wiring harness with P06 (original nonvtec ecu). Here is my situation, i have read all the boards and websites, and i am still unclear about the vtec wiring. First off. To control the vtec, i have the apexi Vafc. According to it, i need the vtec signal wire and the vtec pressure wire. This being the green/white wire (solenoid wire) and the 2 pim connector underneath it (pressure wire) I still am not sure which of those wires is the ground, and which is pressure wire. So since my wiring harness does not have the connector for the vtec, do i simply hook a wire to the vtec solenoid (green/white wire) and hook it to the Apexi vafc? and then take the vtec pressure wire and run that to the apexi vafc as well? Tha is my first question. My second is the P06 ecu. That ecu does not have vtec fuel maps right?, also if i chip that P06 ecu to have a rev limit (9200 rpm) and bigger fuel/air ratio, will it still work with this new d16z6? My third problem is: I am also installing the greddy turbo kit (92-95 civic ex/si) i am a bit sonfused on the Black box wiring. can someone tell me how to wire those 5 wires, especially the one to the ecu(where do they go?) I also heard about the missing link map sensor valve. Can i just buy that, and not use my black box? Also if anyone knows the best settings on the apexi vafc using these mods. can you hook me up? My email is hellbird79@aol.com I also need another vtec solenoid The whole assembly (92-95 civic) i will give anyone $75 shipped overnight. I need it asap. I also need this info. asap. Please help. I know that this is a long posting. Xplocivic 04-26-2002, 10:34 AM Just get the P28 ecu and the correct harness and about 75% of your problems will be solved. Try a salvage yard for the solenoid, you can prolly scare one up for about $20. As far as I know, you can use any VTEC solenoid from any car, I think they are all the same. Don't know where to get maps for the VAFC but any local shop that installs them should be able to tune it for you using a wide band O2 sensor for about $50. As for the blowdryer, call Greddy and they can help you locate the map sensor or tell you how to hook up the black box, I hear they have very good customer service and tech support. Good luck. hellbird79 04-26-2002, 10:43 AM I know the P28 would have been the smarter thing now, however, i already have the apexi vafc almost wired in except for those 2 vtec wires. I need my car asap, so does anyong know if i need to use both vtec wires, or just the gree/white one? Please help, i need my car running. Thanks! hellbird79 04-26-2002, 10:46 AM I am from new orleans, however i am stuck in cornville IN, and all the junk yards only have american cars here, no vtec civics, if anyone can get me that solenoid asap, I will pay you $75 shipped over night via paypal. Please help! madtownhonda 04-26-2002, 02:29 PM the black box disables vtec, I hope you know that:D One of greddy's great inventions from the first gen turbo kits for the d16z6. I personally would never even use the blue box (which allows Vtec to function correctly again) but limits boost pressure to 5.5psi. Don't use either, check out turbocivic.com and turbocivic.net for more info the greddy kits and wiring for the blue/black box if you so desire to use it. As for the Vtec wiring, I don't have a service manual for the LX so I can't give you the info. hellbird79 04-26-2002, 03:06 PM so your saying to not even use any box at all? So nothing connected to the ecu? I also heard about the missing link, will that allow me get more fuel flowing w/o usinge either box from greddy? madtownhonda 04-26-2002, 11:14 PM Originally posted by hellbird79 so your saying to not even use any box at all? So nothing connected to the ecu? I also heard about the missing link, will that allow me get more fuel flowing w/o usinge either box from greddy? just get a boost dependent FMU (vortech FMU), get bigger injectors (440cc are good, you can tune them down with a V-AFC), a high pressure inline fuel pump (make sure it's not an intank, it won't keep up with the flow because the FMU creates a lot of pressure), an FPR, and a missing link. You need the missing link so the MAP sensor doesn't see boost. Without this, you'll go into limp mode especially when you try to tune it with the V-AFC. It comes down to voltage so when the v-afc sends a signal to the ecu, the voltage is to much and bang, your in limp mode. It's more expensive so if your looking for stock boost level, then use the Blue box because it's really easy. I would never use the black box though, don't think you should either. hellbird79 04-27-2002, 03:10 AM ok no black box, that is established. I have ordered the missing link, and i have a b&m FPR, also a NoS performance fuel pump, with the V-afc, and no intercooler. With these mods. what is the max safe boost i can run as a daily driver? I am thinking 7psi. What do yall think? Oh, and for that V-afc, since i am using the P06 ecu, do i just run the vtec valve wire, or both, the vtec valve and pressure wire. please help, Thanks, 91AcrdMan 04-27-2002, 06:11 PM depending on what happens in the next week or two i might have all those missing parts.. be it the v-tec selinoid or the ecu. keep us updated and i will let ya know if i can send ya my stuff to make you life a little easy. and i might even have 2 full d16's just chillin at my friends house after the swaps and stuff are done. hellbird79 04-27-2002, 07:55 PM man....that is awesome. I could sure use those parts. I am very inteested in the ecu and soenoid. keep me posted, i am very interested. :) Thanks for you help!!! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
