Hey guys, first post here. I'm looking to buy a car I can use for street racing. I can't do anything too expensive for the regular car itself (say, try not to go above 25k if that's at all possible).

I was looking at these:

Honda Accord 2005 (V6 Model)
Honda Civic 2005 (It only comes with a 4-Cylinder, will that be a big problem for me?)
Mitsubishi Eclipse (Anything from 2000 up.)
Mitsubishi GT3000 (If I can get a cool body kit for it ;))
Acura Integra

Suggestions? Other cars you think I should look into? Thanks.

Here in Texas you can get a nice chunky Firebird WS6 at that price. You'll get raped for insurance though.

Accord V6.

13.9 with just a CAI and slicks while still having a decent interior.

is the eclipse not a good idea?

Eclipse GSX or 3000GT VR-4.



Make sure they are in good condition and you will haveplenty left from that initial 25k to make either one a really badass car.

3000gt vr-4's run high 13's low 14's stock. They are the faster cars from the list you gave. Twin turbo, awd and pure sexiness.

Accord V6 would be a decent option, but im not sure what other functions you want the car to have

if your going pure street racing then 3KGT will give you the best numbers from purchase as long as its a VR4...im not sure how the non VR4s run

i'm just trying to get the best value and power for my money. i'm not going to be doing pure street racing a LOT as far as i know, and i want awd. i guess the accord is out of the question because it doesn't have awd.

so, firebird WS6, eclipse, or 3000GT?

I believe the WS6 run the same times as the VR-4. WS6 is RWD and VR-4 is AWD which is great for snow and rain.

My personal choice would be the VR-4.

I have more racing knowledge than he does, will I be able to beat him with the 3000GT (I guess what i'm asking is, does the 3000GT have the power to beat out a new Evo Lancer RS)?

Get a brand new SRT4 with stage 2 and you should win in a 1/2 mile race. And you'll have a warranty and a much more reliable car than a 3000GT. Not AWD though.

i would never give someone advice to someone who starts off wanting to get a car for streetracing right from the get go and not even know his options or the large gap in power and performance between his choices ( eclipse and 3000GT? accord V6?integra? too vague top of the line of each model has too much of a power gap 160hp vs 320hp ). this leaves me to think that he shouldn't be street racing right off the bat and learn his cars first.

if he came and ask what kind of car i should get that performs like this and that etc i would gladly help him.

TatII is right you cant just start out with a fast car and expect especially when its obvious that the person has very little knowledge of the cars they are looking at. First off the power ranges are completely backwards and the cars themselves have completely different engine setups v6tt awd over a i-4 fwd. Do some more research and get your power ratios in a more reasonable area. Whoever suggested the ws6 yeah its a fast car but have you ever tryed to drive one in the rain and the srt4 suggestion yeah everyone wants a family sedan with a turbo same with the lancer nothing a but a way for dsm to try and get in the market with the wrx. As it stands the 3000gtvr4 or the v6 accord would be your best bet. for 25k you could get a ttsupra or a rx7 do soe more research dont look at what everyone else has 25k can get you a really fast car but dont get one for street racing unless you know how to drive. So know one bitches about it these are all opinions so fuck off if i upset you.

An SRT-4 is a great car for the $$. 230hp, 0-60 in 5.8, and all for only about $22k.

You can always go for a late 80's M3 or 3-series coupe of that time. Even a mid 90's 318Ti would be a fun choice. Bump the power up with a turbo or supercharger and get ready for some shit-eating grins. They've got great handling right out of the box, the top end is there as well, but they tend to lack 'street' acceleration in stock trim.

Yeah sorry about that i was running off of 4 hours of sleep and was up since 12 that night. To finish the first sentence you cant buy a fast car and expect to go beat up on every car on the street. An srt4 might be fast but its ugly as hell for about 12k you could get a 300zxtt and then you have 13k to put into the motor. Hell you could buy a 93-95 civic and put a b-series or even an h-series motor in it and have about 8-10k to put into it. So many possibilities id rather have a sleeper than something the wigger up the street has, just cause its a civic doesnt meen its rice. Ive seen plenty of fast civics with jdm lip kits, carbon fiber hoods and hatches, nice racing wheels, racing seats and so forth that run in the 12's with b16a turbo.

BTW go with the accord...my pops has an '04 EX V6 Sedan...sweet ass interior and relatively quick...plus if you get a 6-speed coupe, you'll theoretically run low 14's and still have a sweet new car, reliability, and gas mileage to boot.

another two cents here that will probably go on being completely ignored. the guys saying not to buy anything too fast r absolutely right. personally i know how to lift my foot of the gas pedal in the rain, so i would without a second thought go with the LS1 camaro or firebird over ANY front drive sedan or VR4. but if u have more money than brains like some people... yeah im thinkin a civic with a 6" diameter muffler is the car for u

We can tell you are ignorant and what little racing information you have over your friend is just cancelled out due to the fact that he's driving an EVO RS anyway.

The 3000gt vr4 is the car I'd advise you to stay away from most. Oh and while we're at it lets also ban the ws-6 from your car list. I love both cars too much to hear about another ignorant guy looking for speed slapping some big expensive body kit on the car for his first upgrade.
