first off why do that to a mk2 mr2 thats just sad

and to wtf would the reasoning be behind making something like that, i mean if you want to set some records design a body around the engine

rofl, and I quote him "I think its street legal..." wht the hell ever, yeah, that woud meet emmissions, and the car behind you at the stoplight will be on fire when you take off, not to mention you could NOT insure that thing, and probably drive 6 or 7 miles before the small fuel cells are empty

street legal, is he fu*#ing serious ?!?!

I admire the talent of the individual who built it...I mean, its not easy to jet power a car. But on the same note, I will never drive it. 2 turbines behind me, 4 tanks of jet fuel, no EJECT seat, and the only thing separating me and them is a thin layer of metal… thanks but no thanks!

And as someone stated before, get engines lack initial acceleration, so the only way for him to pull mad 0 to 60 is buy using a catapult system LOL!

While I would never drive it or buy it, you must admit that it is pretty badass.

Anyone know where I can get some jet engines? How much are they?

nissanfanatic

I woudl have left the stock engien in so I could pull M4D L337 0-60s and just put the jets on top. Once you get to like 100mph, just put it in neutral and use the jet propulsion.

I have added it to the official MR2 Race Records page here:
http://www.mr2ownersclub.com/mr2records/mr2records.htm

Click on Land Speed at the bottom of the page. :)

that setup probably costs many times more than what he's selling it for

Actually, from what I understand, those jet engines can be had relatively cheap ... $1200-$1400 each or so. They are leftovers from actual Jets and can't be used for flying anymore because of the unumber of hours they have been run ... but they are fine for land use ;)

on the website for the land speed from jekylandHyde, it has the video from the email. and it sure as hell doesnt look like 187 mph

I have 2 videos of that car running.
I uploaded the one from the flats ... I am not sure if that is the 187 run or not.
