I found a 92 240 with the ka24de engine in it and it is completly stock, but it has 177000 miles on it and i am wondering how long will the engine last and what parts will start to break first. thanks

My '92 lasted 221,000 miles and was still going strong when I totaled it. I bought it at 160,000 miles and put several cross country trips on it from my home on the east coast and where I live now in Southern California. It was well taken care of. But your question is sort of broad. What kind of shape is the engine in currently? How is it running? When I bought mine at that mileage, I did a full maitenance and replaced most servicable parts and gave it a tune up. It ran strong for another 60,000 miles and I think it would have lasted quite a bit longer. Something to note is that most of those are highway miles.

yea it really depends on the shape of the car. I dont think there is really anything that commonly breaks. I have 3 240's here all with over 160,000 and nothing has gone bad on all of them. You just want to replace stuff that you know will go bad eventually, like spark plugs, fuel injectors etc. But those should be changed every so often on any car. Oil changes on time.....

Some 240's have things go out at a certain mileage, then another 240 may have that part go on forever lol. It's just up to the part when it decides to not function anymore. Iv changed starters, and fuel filters and injectors most commonly on them. Those go with age though. Your engine should go on alot longer if properly maintained.

I bought mine brand new in 93, besides the regular preventive maintence like oil, sparks plugs etc. the only really major repair was a clutch and two starters and 138,000 miles later the KA is still going strong. All I can say is if you take care of your 240...she'll take care of you.
