Two days ago I brought home a red 1991 n/a 2 seater with 65k original miles, and I've had a big stupid grin on my face ever since. I really like the way the car drives, and I find the engine to have plenty of power for me even without forced induction. Of course that might have something to do with the fact that my last car was a 4 door Integra. The driving experience of this car is completely different- I hit the gas, and the car actually accellerates, it's crazy.

I'm about 6'5" and I just barely fit in the driver's seat. If I sit up really straight my head grazes the liner, but I've always had pretty bad posture naturally so it doesn't bother me at all.

There are a few things I need to do to it and part to replace. The wheel and shift knob leather is a little worn and I doubt it's had it's 60k service (no sticker under the hood) so that's first on the list. I'm also pretty disappointed in the stereo that's in it. It's already an after market head unit but it skips like a bastard and the speakers suck.

Anyway, I'm very happy with the car and I acutally find myself looking forward to my drive to work and taking the longer scenic route along the coast with the nice twisty roads just for fun.

Long live the Z!

good to hear of another pleased owner.. sounds like you got a pretty damn low mileage one, so good find on that one! as for the stereo... anything.. and i mean ANYTHING is better than that stock bose system... you probably need to rewire the speakers to the deck, as i think there was some sort of funky wiring deal with the stock stuff... z32 owners probably know more about it.

yeah, the z32 does have quite a bit more kick than your old integra... i'd know, as i used to own one before owning my first z. and yes, it is Always a pleasure to drive. is it a 5 speed?

Oh yes, it's a 5 speed. I'd have to lose my right hand and my left foot before I bought a sports car with an automatic.

I was actually really sad to see the Integra go. I'd driven it for 5 years and it never let me down. Great car, just boring.

Sounds nice... how much did you get her for? Where do you live?

And it's not a 'sports' car... remember that thread guys?

I must have missed the not a sports car thread. What's the rationale behind that? Am I supposed to refer to it as a grand touring car?

I'm in Los Angeles, got it for $7500. That's pretty well below what cars of similar condition are priced at around here.

Wow... good steal! I got mine for $7500 and it had 91K... good steal indeed.

Yuh... I made the mistake of calling the Z a 'sports' car once and it caused this big debate. We refer to the Z around these parts as a GT car... as you guessed correctly. LoL

If you are in LA are you thinking of joining LAZ32 car club? Those guys are cool and they usually come out to our Empire Z (of the Inland Empire and surrounding areas) every now and then... keep in touch. We generally attend each others meets and cruises and events and stuff. One to look forward to this year will be the Super GT event... it was awesome last year!

Got a pic of your Z?

Splitting hairs if you ask me. There are enough GT versions of cars that are really crappy to make that term just as bastardized as calling the Z a sports car.

I hadn't really thought about the car club thing to be honest. I've never had a car cool enough to be involved with one to know whether or not I'm a club guy or not. I guess I could always use more friends. :icon16:

The ad is still up, so here's the pic from that-

It looks quite a bit like yours, just not the 2+2 and a solid roof. I'll have to get some better pics of it.

Oh cool! You have a slick-top! Those are somewhat rare! Perfect cadinate for a TT swap if you ask me!! Haha! You really got a good deal!

Yeah... check either one of us out... not sure where exactly you live in LA so I can't really recommend which Club you should join... that's up to you! But like I said... we pretty much hang out with each other now and then. Hit me up whenever. Maybe we can go cruise or something...

Get some better pix and start modding! My name is 'George' BTW....

Is the slick top that uncommon? I guess the t-top would probably have been a more popular option when the car was new. I'm afraid any mods to the car will be mostly cosmetic and a little audio. I'm trying to buy a house eventually, and a TT swap would deplete my down payment savings even more than buying this car already did.

Travis, in Hermosa beach. Where in the empire are you? I pass through there every once in a while during the winter on my way up to the mountain.

The Z32 never had a real 'base' model... so to make up for the drivers out there who did not want the frills of T-Tops and other small options (not sure on all the options how-ever), Nissan created the Slick-Top... not sure on the exact production numbers but they are low.

Nice to meet you, Travis... I don't actually live in the 'Inland Empire' but in the Hi-Desert area up by Hesperia and Victorville. I live in Applevalley to be exact. I'm only about 45 min. from Ontario where Empire Z meets every first Thursday of the month. There are a few members living out in this area.

Yuh... I'm slowly but surely working on my TT swap... dragging it out over a few years. I'm working on buying a home myself so I totally understand your position! I hope that doesn't stop you from at least buying Intake and Exhaust though... I'm sure the modding bug will bite you soon if you hang out around here or other forums... :)

bastard stole my name...

anyway, nice slicktop.. definitely a rare find.. if the owner knew what he had he surely could have jacked the price up more... you should be happy knowing that you have the lightest model z32 that was ever shot off the production line.. aside from maybe some crazy special edition that i've never heard of

Thanks for the nice words and welcomes guys...

The funny thing is I got it from a dealer, not private party. It was a one owner car, and based on the records it looks like it sat in some rich guys garage down in Newport Beach for the last 15 years.

Now off to order some parts...

"Victorville"..."Applevalley"...all this is bringing back memories. I was born in cali and lived there for 13 years. I now live in northern Kenfucky.

Good steal...yes...slick tops are VERY rare. I don't recall ever seeing one for sale. Welcome to the family.
