what would you do to an explorer?WillalwaysownaFord 07-13-2005, 07:10 PM what would you do to an explorer? put it on Bags with 20" wheels ? 3" lift on 32 x 11.50 tireS? or just lower it not on Bags and put 20" wheels around it? Boogieman142 09-14-2005, 12:58 AM push it off a cliff (not with me in it of course) rum runner 09-14-2005, 12:11 PM push it off a cliff (not with me in it of course) At $3.00 a gallon for gas, trade it for a Toyota. I would not increase the ride height of an Explorer. They already have a problem with roll-over, as does GMC Jimmy and it's Chevrolet counterpart. Johnny Mullet 08-08-2006, 09:33 PM I would leave it stock and go fishing! virgamanda 08-19-2006, 11:42 AM i love my explorer and if you don't like urs then get rid of it!! Boogieman142 08-19-2006, 01:05 PM i love my explorer and if you don't like urs then get rid of it!! i've never had an explorer, nor do i plan on it. i've worked on too many of them and i do not like them whatsoever. drwolfenstein 08-29-2006, 04:46 PM At $3.00 a gallon for gas, trade it for a Toyota. I would not increase the ride height of an Explorer. They already have a problem with roll-over, as does GMC Jimmy and it's Chevrolet counterpart. i have to agure with this, i have a 91' explorer and to be honest, i have tride to roll it, well not "roll it" but i have tried to get it to tip. this has included as followes : 30 mph brode slide, 50 mph brode slide, trail crawling where i should have never been with a stock explorer, wall climbing, with stock explorer, and i went into a 6 foot deep ditch at 60 one day after a deer (chasing not hunting) conclusion number one cuase of roll overs in explorers, inexperinced drivers in combination with a possible blow out. so what would i do and what am i going to do. 302 c6 tranny dana 44 frotn and rear, 35" tires full roll cage custom tool drawer on board air on board arc welder dual winches and fianlly relocate all electrical to the roof area witha custom over head guage pod and snorkel system. drwolfenstein 08-29-2006, 04:47 PM i've never had an explorer, nor do i plan on it. i've worked on too many of them and i do not like them whatsoever. then why are you here???????????????????????????????????????????:ba nghead: BLU CIVIC 10-19-2006, 01:24 PM sell it and get a Land Cruiser  drwolfenstein 10-19-2006, 04:36 PM sell it and get a Land Cruiser  ....i can't argue with that....well..cost. but thats all i got man. BLU CIVIC 10-19-2006, 05:05 PM ....i can't argue with that....well..cost. but thats all i got man. ok, cost...$120ea to replace the outside mirrors :shakehead drwolfenstein 10-20-2006, 11:12 AM ok, cost...$120ea to replace the outside mirrors :shakehead okay. i was jsut kidding around but seriously, you don;t like explorers, then don;t own one. mine is on it's last leg but i still liek the damn thing, infact it is the most comfortable vehical i have owned. it;s all a matter of opion and yours no longer matters to me. BLU CIVIC 10-20-2006, 11:52 AM okay. i was jsut kidding around but seriously, you don;t like explorers, then don;t own one. mine is on it's last leg but i still liek the damn thing, infact it is the most comfortable vehical i have owned. it;s all a matter of opion and yours no longer matters to me. actually i was agreeing with you...saying that the mirrors on my Land Cruiser cost $120ea to replace...people too uptight but i won't buy an Explorer...not after my brothers caught fire in the parking lot of his job...a recall that went uncheck by the Ford dealership he got it from...and on the way down to his graduation in SC saw one lipped over...so that pretty much sealed the deal on my family not getting one drwolfenstein 10-23-2006, 11:08 AM sorry, missunderstood you. i prolly won;t buy another, but i won;t get rid of the one i have. punmaster7 10-27-2006, 09:28 AM :swear: I'd love to rebuild another wreck, but new PA laws are making it so difficult and expensive to re-title reconstructed vehicles that the average backyard mechanic won't be able to afford to rebuild them anymore! drwolfenstein 10-27-2006, 04:39 PM :swear: I'd love to rebuild another wreck, but new PA laws are making it so difficult and expensive to re-title reconstructed vehicles that the average backyard mechanic won't be able to afford to rebuild them anymore! thats why i love kansas, heck, if the vehical is over 30 all it has to do is pass a safty inspection, don't even have to have the orignal title, as long as it does not come back stolen on a vin check they gie you a new title, and wrecked vehicals, again as long as they pass the safety, your good to go. rivguy 10-28-2006, 04:42 PM where is the blow it up for insurance money option? punmaster7 11-10-2006, 08:10 AM where is the blow it up for insurance money option? Give it to me for the next couple of months. I'll find a deer!!! 8-Deer claims. 4-Totals. 4-Other claims. Gimme #9. Here Bambi!!! Come to papa!!! TeamExploder 11-30-2007, 08:54 AM Depends on your truck specs, depending on what you like to do with it, how long your going to keep it. If its a 4X2 Then idk I think a 2wheel drive is just worthless so in my opinion they're good to lower. My opinion a 4X4 is a waste to lower, If you like to go for a little off-roading nothing major just put some 235/75/15 AT's on it. If you just use it for onroad driving and want the lifted type appearance put a body lift on it. Body lift is mainly a looky mod because it don't really do the truck anygood because your not lifting the frame any higher in the air, The only thing its sometimes good for is to fit bigger tires on. If you have a first gen explorer I'd put lockout hubs in or interchange the front axle with one out of a 96-01 with autohubs if you like the auto feature. So yeah...it all depends on your prefference, I wouldn't buy anything other than an Explorer/Mountaineer/Navajo for a truck/suv. If you have a 95/96 explorer I would do a Brown wire mod for the 4X4 so when you want you can have your FullTime 4X4 and when you want you can just have your traction assist 4X4. If you do a good bit of offroading where you hit slick spots and you don't have a limited-slip rear then I'd put a locker in the rear. Nice appearance mods would be bug deflector/sun visor/rain visors. They are top heavy but, you gotta have ground clearance! And I know some of you think explorers are junk, but they're not, it's all in how you treat them/keep up with regular maintanence. Most of the explorer motors you can get at least 200k miles, some have gotten over 300k out of theirs. TeamExploder 11-30-2007, 09:01 AM You could also is you have a 91-94 do a coil spacers in the front and add-a-leaf in the rear or 95-01 explorer do a torsion twist and an add-a-leaf in the rear to get about 2-2 1/2 inch of body lift thats a cheaper susp. lift. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
