Hello to all Members!

This is my first post. To all who may be having problems with a 2003 GMC Sierra instrument panel. About a week ago when I got in my truck(before I started it) I noticed the high beam indicator light was on. As I watched it, I noticed that it would brighten, dim, flicker and sometimes go out completely. When I started the truck, the high beam indicator went out and would function normally while the head lights were on. A few days later when I started the truck, the Driver Information Window, shift lever position, speedometer, tach, fuel, temp, and battery indicators were dead. Certain other lights still worked normally. Eventually what I found was that the circuit board on the back of the instrument panel had oxidation around sixteen different solder connections. A number of them appeared to form a path to the ground plane of the circuit board. I used a pencil eraser to clean off the oxidation. This fixed the problem. I am now looking for some type of conformal coating to spray on the circuit board to keep it from doing this again.

Hope this helps others.... :)
