A couple weeks ago my Intrepid started making a clacking/knocking noise. The car sounds like a diesel engine! But it runs great. Last week my dad flushed the radiator for me and the noise got even louder after that. It may or may not have had anything to do with that though. Anybody have any idea what is going on with it? It has 147,000 miles on it, the oil is changed every 3,000 religiously, and I definately don't drive the car hard. Help!

Yes the sound means that you need soon an engine change or rebuilt, the sound comes from a bearing knock or piston slap especialy at the mileage you stated.....good luck ...sorry for the bad news.

Sounds like the engine needs to be changed. The 3.3 is just a "throw away" engine anyway. The 3.3 is a very good engine when it is maintained and most auto salvage yards do sell a 3.3 once in a while

Well, I won't have to worry about the noise anymore. A deer ran out in front of me yesterday morning, I swurved to miss it and went head on with a gaurd rail. Didn't get hurt though. Thank God for full coverage insurance - and that I didn't get hurt. State Farm totalled the car. Got a $2100.00 check. (: (I only paid $1,000.00 for the car.) Thanks for the help anyway. NO more Chryslers for me EVER.
