DOHC Engine Swaptitantn24 07-11-2005, 12:06 PM Okay, I'm researching possible options of DOHC engines to swap for my D16Y8 in my Civic EX coupe. I have an automatic tranny and planned on keeping it. What would be the best DOHC engine to do a bolt on swap with? I was thinking the B18C1 possibly. If anyone could offer some insight on this(preferrably somone who has done it), I would appreciate it. BrodyP 07-11-2005, 12:09 PM Did you read the swap FAQ at the top of the forum start there alot of good info. alacard 07-11-2005, 01:18 PM no offense, but if youre going for a quick car...why do you want an auto? thats more than half the fun. Greenblurr93 07-11-2005, 01:24 PM you want to keep your car an auto? or Keep your auto tranny and bolt a DOHC engine to it??? a b18c1 is a very nice engine, but youd have to buy a b series tranny for it cuz you cant mix series'.... d bolts with d and b bolts with b.. etc. etc. titantn24 07-11-2005, 01:24 PM no offense, but if youre going for a quick car...why do you want an auto? thats more than half the fun. No offense taken...I'm considering keeping the auto tranny for the sake of saving time and $$. With the right setup, an auto will be quick enough. If your going to do it you might as well do it right and swapping for a manual tranny is somthing you will need to do. Dont rush into this project. Do it right and you will enjoy the benefits in the long run. honda_racing101 07-11-2005, 02:06 PM If your going to do it you might as well do it right and swapping for a manual tranny is somthing you will need to do. You car will be faster, and a hell of alot more fun. And if the reason for staying auto is funding, then just save and buy the engine/trans as one then do the swap. You can thank us later. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
